I did a very last-minute solo trip in May (booked flight one morning, flying the same day).

I took a lot of notes in order to write a trippie, but haven't got round to it yet.

It is very liberating to have that freedom to do exactly what you want and when.

If you flick through my first link you'll see, for example, when I did 4 parks in one day and how much I accomplished. I'd never be able to do that having my kids with me!

I don't think you can assume because someone is alone they are lonely but I do think people in general are far more likely to strike up casual conversations with a solo person rather than a couple or family as they don't fear intruding so much.

Agreed - I was far from lonely but I also had some great conversations with a whole range of people and gained insights that I would not have had if I was with my family.
