Mobile Warning to those visiting Prague.

I work in a bureau and had (what I thought) was an interesting customer today.
She produced 2000 czk for me to change back into GBP, as it's one we sell I recognised it instantly. But there was also a 500 note that I'd never seen before, she said that her son had got it while in Prague. Firstly, the letters on this note were Cyrillic, the Czech don't use Cyrillic. I had to pass it back as I had no idea what it was. After much research I found it was a very old Belarus rouble! How on earth did he get this? Take a look at this video...

Great video link and something everyone should keep in mind no matter what country they go to.
Scamming of the highest order - avoided if we are all careful ( and that can be difficult at times as they sound so legit)

Currency exchange can be problematic no matter where. Last summer we got some Swedish krona from a high street bureau de change. The first place I tried to spend one of the notes it was rejected - new notes had been introduced and these had expired. Not all the notes I had were old currency but enough were to cause problems.
When I took them back they wanted to give me poorer rate to cash them in!😡 Needless to say I stood my ground and got a better rate than I paid.

Yes, we have had quite a few try to sell us old notes. We have also had a lot of bother with customers from abroad having been given the paper Bank of England £5 and we are not allowed to help them.

I omitted to say that I got my currency here in the UK - they sold me duff bank notes and wanted to give me a poorer rate to sell them back. They even said how do we you know you got them here!

Everything on a card other than really small value purchases, no need for lots of currency.
