Getting asked for I.d in Epcot -word of warning

just a word of warning for drinking in the world showcase at Epcot, if you do get asked for I.d, they do not accept a uk driving licence as a valid form of I.d, I was asked last night and refused and so was my husband and we are both 36 so somewhat of a compliment but take a photo of your passport as that is all they accept, we only wanted one drink each anyway so the manager on duty did authorise in the end but just be aware😀

Yep. Always need your passport. The U.S guys don't know if our driving licences are fake or not.
Just as, I suppose, we would struggle to identify if one of their licences was fake...

How are they to know if a photocopy of a passport hasn't been photo-shopped and faked?

I contacted Universal last week about the same issue, they said that a Uk Photo DL is a valid form of ID, but to also take a photo of your passport for further proof if needed.

This has always been my argument. Surely a physical ID (ie driving licence) is better than a photocopy or picture of one.

It might be stupid and you can argue until you are blue in the face but these are the requirements and they have the right to refuse you if you don't meet them. It varies from place to place in my experience. Some have accepted my drivers licence alone some wanted a copy of the passport too. My advice is to take everything just in case and you won't have to worry!

I got ID'd by a kid who looked to be about 16 and the guy on the till next to us said to him "are you serious?" .. made me chuckle and the poor lad just put his head down and served me

Needless to say I didn't show any.

Their rules might have been tightened up recently. They could have been bombarded with secret shoppers to test whether or not they are doing the checks to begin with. Please don’t give the staff any rude comments or be offended in any way they are doing their job. I personally think it’s a good idea to prevent underage drinking occurring in theme parks. At home I have to do this every minute of my shift to ensure we are within the law and not serving underage drinkers/ smokers so the business doesn’t lose it’s age restricted products licences. That’s a whopping lot of income right there. If you get asked then please feel happy about it and provide ID as requested. It only takes a couple of minutes to think ahead and a couple of minutes to show it to the relevant person.
