Tourin' Over California 2017 - Day 2 San Francisco / Dylan's Tour

14 July

After breakfast at the hotel buffet, we walked to get our Dylan's tour by the cable car turn around.

There were a few people waiting for different tours and after our driver Jake arrived we boarded the mini bus to start our tour. Jake had out a box of cereal bars at the front of the bus for us to snack on during the day. We drove round some of streets and up to Nob Hill where we had our first stop at the Women's Building where we got out to look at the murals.

Next stop was Delores Park for a great view over the city.

After this we went Haight Street, the birthplace of the summer of love. We went to have a look round the market where the food looked delicious, and also to use the loo in there. Lots of shops were celebrating 50 years since Summer of love.

Next stop was Billionaires row at Pacific Heights with houses costing $40M, Megan walking down the steps to take a photo of the heart.

We drove to Presidio and past the Disney museum, on our way to Fort Point for photos of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Back on the bus we drove over the bridge and into Sausalito a really nice seaside town. Sat at a pavement table at Bridgeway Cafe in the sunshine for lunch, Tracey had tuna melt Megan chicken fajitas, me BLT, watching all the people who were biking or walking the bridge go by.

Megan got a San Francisco hoodie on our way back to the bus. It was slow progress on windy road up the hills to Muir Woods because of road works. We also passed this overturned lorry on our way.

We paid $10 each entrance to the woods and followed the creek side trail as far as bridge 4. Jake had told us to turn back when we got this far. It was nice and peaceful walking in the woods surrounded by giant redwoods.

Then it was back to the city to get dropped off at Ghirardelli Square. We had a tip ready but nobody else gave any so we didn't. We felt guilty after.

We walked back to the hotel, calling at Walgreens where we got some Cheetos. We had a shower then walked up some of San Francisco famous hills to see Lombard Street

We then walked back to Fisherman’s Wharf where we went in a crepe shop. Megan had Nutella with strawberries and whipped cream, Tracey and I just had a drink.

We walked to Pier 39, on the way Megan watched some street musicians getting everyone dancing, then we watched a demo through the window at Boudin Bakery. Baker had about 2 metres of dough put 5 packs of butter on and rubbed it in. It looked loads of butter, but then he got another 5 followed by a mountain of cinnamon. It made one long roll then chopped it all up into little bits and put it in loaf tins. We were baffled as to what it was he was making. We looked in shop for a clue but couldn’t find anything that looked like it.

We carried on to Pier 39 and walked to end to see the sea lions, there were just a few there and it was a very cold wind now. We looked in a fudge shop and ended up spending $ 40 on fudge and nut turtles. There was no one else in there and I think we felt obliged to buy after trying a few samples.

We watched a juggler show on the pier, he was quite funny. After that we went back to the hotel, in through the fastest revolving doors in the west. You had to jump in fly round and get ready to jump out again. We had our cheetos and some of the turtles.

Day 3 here

Fab day. You managed to see loads. I think it would be some kind of cinnamon roll they were making in boudins.
