Car rental

A friend of ours has just returned from florida and had some serious reservations from a car hire company he had never heard from before gotrentalcars. They were very sceptical but it was at a price point which they like.

I have now looked at the same company and the price is very reasonable. Have anyone in dibb heard of them?

I have never heard of them so I had a little look
Prices are in US or Canadian $ only - not £

I selected a full size car for the 28 days I need in Aug/Sept
Now here is where it's weird
$1149 for the full package with Insurances
$1167 for the basic package which doesn't include CDW.

How can that be right? Sounds to me there is a huge opening there for a desk upsell or no car can be taken out maybe.

Plus it says on there that for claims there is a 'deductible' Mmm, alarm bells are now ringing with me.

Then I check their hours of operation which are:-

lundi : 00:00 AM - 11:59 PM
mardi : 00:00 AM - 11:59 PM
mercredi : 00:00 AM - 11:59 PM
jeudi : 00:00 AM - 11:59 PM
vendredi : 00:00 AM - 11:59 PM
samedi : 00:00 AM - 11:59 PM
dimanche : 00:00 AM - 11:59 PM

Mmm, even more concerned now.

So I now check their HQ in Orlando. It may be a genuine office but it may be a 'virtual one'

Clermont Professional Executive Offices offers a wide variety of executive offices and virtual offices for the working professional. Whether you are just starting out or you are a small company looking to expand, we can provide the best office solution for you with minimal cost. The advantage of CPEO, is you get many services and amenities for a fraction of the cost of traditional office space.

Finally I checked Trustpilot for reviews. Only 4 and they are all 1 star and slam the company.

So in a nutshell I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

Need to give my honest feedback about this company gotrentalcars. After reviewing and seeing mostly negative feedback, I took the chance and bite the bullet and booked with them for our Xmas trip due to the cost saving of almost half what I was being quoted. With such savings, i had my hesitation.

But as soon as I booked, with gotrentalcars, I received confirmation from them and one from Alamo. Gotrentals informed that my card would be debited on a particular date. That was to give me time to cancel our carry on. Used my CC instead.

Contacted alamo to double checked and check insurance level which they inform me was the top one they offer, and the same which i have always had with them on all my previous care hire from them. They confirm they had my reservation and that I could use my reference on their website.

Which I was able to do immediately and view my booking and register so that I could use the kiosk which I did.

Even on the day of travel was still worrying, but got to the kiosk, used my card and everything was fine.

So my experience was that of a good one. Great saving. Two-week dodge caravan for £750, everyone was quoting £1480 and above.

ukman. I am really pleased it worked out for you. I detest seeing people getting ripped off or scammed. Hope you had a great trip.

Bear in mind a lot of the prices you were getting were very expensive as you were late in the day booking.

However I stick by my original assertion and I still won't touch them with a bargepole!

I am not asking for anyone to use them, just thought I would reply with my experience. I have been renting cars for quite a few years.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad it worked out for you and a good idea to post about it.
However in your own words you were worried and that's something I won't do.

Nice to see all was good.
I tend to side with MrTM re 3rd party suppliers I'm very happy when I am aware that the 3rd party supplies with someone at a price I'm happy with.
I certainly do not like any supplier who says one of our partners.
I have no idea if yours specify as Alamo as the provider if so a great spot.
The only companies I will not trust are Advantage Ace and Auto Europe.
I'm in a minority about a lot of others but as a 100+ worldwide rentals a year I have seen and spotted sharpe practice a mile away at desks.
For me Alamo for all who have any reservations about being sold upsell and speed at end of journey if price is right.
Savy renters pick cheapest and maybe wait 20 mins to save hundreds car quality is virtually identical as proved by JD power Time magazine US news.
Service is what you pay for nowt else.
