Pick up date: 9th November
Picked up from: MCO
Though: Alamo (Brits)
Car booked : Intermediate SUV
Car offered: Choice of 3-row cars (eg Town & Country)
Car taken: High-spec 'glitter finish' burgandy Town & Country
Cost £165

The 3rd row of seats was put down for us so I'd be able to get the scooter in without any problems. We had a reversing camera as well, but it took a long time to find the front wiper on/off switch! Never did discover where the buttons/levers were to pop the bonnet and petrol lid.

The rear doors were basically self-opening and closing: all we had to do was pull on the handle and release, and the door would pop out and slide back, or slide closed and self-close. The lift-up boot was heavy to drop, but at least it again would self-close once you got it mostly down.

It was very high up off the ground for me at 5'1½" but it drove beautifully.

Place you picked the car up from: E 43rd St, NY, drop off Boston Logan
Category of car hired: Full Size
Make of car you got: Hyundai Sonata
Hire car company used: Avis

Ok its not Florida but saw some other uploads from cars people have rented from around the States so figured this might help someone.

We picked it up from Avis on E 43rd St and dropped it off a few days later at Boston Logan airport. The location was disorganised and had practically no cars, to cut a long story short they tried to palm us off with a small, old Nissan Rogue claiming it was an 'upgrade' when we'd booked a full size saloon, 'Impala or similar'. After huffing and puffing they finally 'found' a Hyundai Sonata.

It had about 32k miles and was a bit grubby inside, couple of stains and crumbs and the cupholders were sticky from where drinks had spilled. We later found the toll card had expired too - not great when we came into Boston and all the tolls are cashless! Despite this, the car was alright and I'm sure Avis at a bigger location at MCO are more organised - I just wanted to upload this to give a picture as to what a typical full size could be.

Place you picked the car up from:- MCO
Category of car hired:- Luxury
Make of car you got:- Cadillac XTS
Hire car company used:- Virgin Alamo

Not many cars in the luxury row but one of the attendants asked what I wanted. I said by choice a Cadillac sedan so he said he would get one from the National lot and returned with this.

Lovely car had only 150 miles on the clock. Came with all gear expected in a luxury; full leather, heated and cooled seats, front and rear parking sensors with reversing camera, bose sound system, auto park feature, touch screen console with sat nav and a hidden compartment for valuables!

I did like the illuminated door handles.

Did approximately 22mpg and used a tank and a half for three weeks.

There wasn't a great selection in the standard SUV aisle so I asked an Alamo employee if they had any other vehicles to choose from, she suggested that we should take this Buick Enclave instead as a free upgrade It has a full leather interior, reversing camera, blind spot monitoring and a heated steering wheel!

Make of car you got: Ford Mustang
Hire car company used: Alamo (Through BA employee rate)
Price: £218 for two weeks

Not the biggest of cars (esp height) but I only needed it for me as a 2nd car.
Its had arrived the day before at the airport with another orange one (someone got to it before me) & had 82 miles on the clock.
Still had plastic covers on bits!
Average 35mpg, ok for a V6 turbo
Ended up with almost a thousand.

Alamo Mid Size - Dodge Dart - MCO

Hi, we booked an economy car with Alamo through Virgin, on arrival at MCO they upgraded us to midsize for free, so we chose the Dodge Dart. Was really nice to drive. We changed it to another Dodge Dart half way through the two weeks because the was a chunk out of one of the tyres. We rang Alamo and took it back to the car care centre nr Magic Kingdom, took two mins to get new car!
