What? No DDP? Pre Trip Report Sept 2018
So I’ve done a pre trippie for my trip report (link here) but don’t usually do a dining pre trippie. I decided though that I like talking about the food we’re going to eat so here goes.
The Plan My sister Marie & I have been going to Florida for years together. We went last year, and the year before and agreed that we would have a break this year and wait until 2019. Circumstances changed and we were able to book but only for one week. On the basis that a week there is better than a week here we decided to go for it! We normally stay at Disney with free dining, the last offsite stay being 2008. Although we’ve had a few days with no DDP some years this is the first we’ve had a whole week. The last time we stayed with a room discount we paid for DDP. I don’t have the figures and didn’t keep a note of costs but I had worked out that we’d at least break even and we liked the idea of having food paid for. Prices for this year for 2 of us for 7 nights are: QSDP - £35.99 pp pn so £503, or around $650 DDP - £49.99 pp pn so £699, or around $900 I considered both. £500 for food for both of us for a week seems ok. But we do love our TS meals so chances are we’d pay OOP for a couple. Fine if QSDP is free but not if you’re paying. £700 for a week, £100 per day again seems reasonable. That’s £50 per person for 3 meals plus snacks really. But then I thought, let’s just leave it. Let’s see how much we actually spend on food. So for the first time in forever () we have no DDP 😱. |

ADRs
So I was never going to have no ADRs. I’ve booked and cancelled about a dozen!
Currently booked: Fresh Mediterranean Market at the Dolphin. Since we’re not restricted to restaurants accepting DDP and since we’re within walking distance of The Swalphin as I like to call them I thought it’d be nice to try some of their restaurants. I’ve booked a (very) early breakfast for our first morning assuming we’ll be up a stupid o’ clock. It’s both buffet and a la carte so we should find something to suit. I’ve also booked The Wave for our first MK day. We’ve been trying to have breakfast here for about 2 years so I decided just to go for it. Again it’s both buffet and a la carte and gets great reviews. I really want to try these! Also booked is Homecomin’ for dinner. We enjoyed Homecomin’ last year. I think I reported that it while I enjoyed it I wasn’t “blown away”. When I think back I did really enjoy it and loved the Hummingbird Cake. I wanted somewhere in Disney Springs for dinner so this was the choice. This was so good! Last but not least we’ve also booked Yak & Yeti. We have a Landry card so it makes no sense to book but I feel better knowing it is! We have a birthday reward each so will get $25 off. We have it planned for an AK evening where we’ll do a twilight safari and maybe stay for RoL. We loved these Wok Fried Green Beans last time! I had booked The Plaza after we had briefly chatted about how we liked it. I cancelled again and decided we would see how we felt at the time. |

Breakfast
Other than the two booked we don’t have any plans for table service breakfasts. We mainly have morning EMH planned so generally won’t have time. We’ll probably just get something for the room.
Last year I took some Azera Latte sachets and a travel kettle so that’s the plan again this year. We’ll probably do a Walmart shop for some snacks, water/drinks and breakfast stuff. Last year we really enjoyed these banana nut muffins from Walmart. I have, however been browsing the Walmart website and fancy these And also these Of course we’re only there a week so we’ll never eat all that! Maybe... |

Other food we want to eat
We go during Food & Wine and last year enjoyed some of the snacks from the F&W booths. Since we’re within walking distance of Epcot it’ll be so easy to pop in and have a wander round WS.
In particular I’m looking forward to these, the cheddar cheese soup with pretzel bread and filet steak I’ve also discovered that Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie does lobster bisque Which I would like to have with this And this And another item we had last year that was amazing was this The Classic from the Daily Poutine is definitely on the list! |

Oh man all that food looks amazing! Is the last item chips with cheese and gravy? Is that what a poutine is? If so I'll definitely be trying that! !
Look forward to reading more : ) |
