Changing booked AA flights to BA?
We may have to change our AA flights for our holiday next month due to a family member being very ill. AA will obviously charge us £150 each for the privilege and we can rebook the flights for another time, as long as we travel within 1 year of when the original flights were booked. We booked last June so only a few months to use the flights.
The flights can be to our original destination or anywhere in the US but can we fly on BA planes if rebooked through AA? We were originally flying on AA planes. We may book a different destination that doesn't have any direct flights from London on AA, only BA. |

It would depend on the terms under which rebooking was offered on the original tickets (ie whether the flights have to be operated by AA or not), but it is possible you’d be allowed to do this.
AA and BA code share on pretty much all routes between the UK and USA, under a joint venture in revenue sharing they have along with Iberia and Finnair, so as long as there are no specific clauses in the terms of your booking to prevent it, you may be able to do it. You will have to ask AA (or your trial agent if you didn’t book direct with the airline). |
