:) Recorders should be banned

The child next door has got to the age where they learn the recorder, I wouldn't mind but just wish she could practice in the evening not at 6.30 in the morning.

London’s burning still haunts me, all 3 of mine played the recorder. I still belt out London’s Burning or God Save The Queen every now and again but not at 6am as I can’t even speak at thst time!

I agree. However it could be worse. When I was in year 1 it was compulsory to learn the violin. My parents said it was one of the more painful parenting experiences !

My God this brought back memories.

My Son tried to learn the trumpet when he was about 9 or 10. Hells teeth it was awful.

Going back 50+ years the lad next door to me who was my age tried to learn the violin. I use the word tried as it sounded horrendous!
Went on for years at all hours of the day.

Put me off music for life.

Aw that brings back so many memories! My sister and I would belt out London’s burning all the time! We would often find my dad with his hands over his ears 🤪
There was no mobile phones or I pass in those days so a recorder was priceless lol

Thank goodness for electric pianos - like a full sized normal piano - but WITH HEADPHONES!

Do they still force kids into this or is recorder optional now? I hated the bloomin thing and don't have a musical bone in my body.
I'm sure my mother agreed after the 200th rendition of 'Truly Scrumptious' as well.

I feel your pain. We have three wee girls next door. They could form a band!
