Take A Look Through My Eyes. Day 8, Animal Kingdom, Yak And Yeti And Goofy Hippos. 6th Sep 2019.

We didn't wake up until 8:40! This is unheard of, we are both usually early birds. I've realised that I haven't included any room photos yet so have included them in todays update.
The rooms here are lovely, everything feels nice and airy. There are plenty of plug and usb points dotted around the room and beside the beds. The bed headboards have little lights which switch on when you pull them out. The wardrobes are a generous size and there is plenty of drawer space and the bathroom has a few cubby holes under the vanity unit which can also be used for storage. There's also ample space under the bed to store cases.

The bathroom has a separate sink and shower/loo area with a sliding door separating the two. The shower has a pull-out washing line which is handy for drying swimwear. Large bottles of H2o shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are attached to the wall in the shower and there also a small alcove within the shower where you can place your own items. There's a nifty little shelf just off of the floor which is handy to put your feet on when shaving your legs. My only complaint is the cheap loo roll! 😊

We had a QS waffle breakfast at the Mara this morning, I must have been hungry as I didn't take any photos!

The buses run to Typhoon Lagoon about every 30 minutes from AKL, we were lucky as we arrived at the bus stop about 5 minutes before the bus and were at Typhoon Lagoon for 10am. I left my phone in the room so there are no photos this morning.

We spent the next four hours or so alternating between the lazy river and the wave pool before going back to AKL to shower and change and catch the 4pm bus to AK for our 5pm ADR at Yak and Yeti.

Again, we were handed a buzzer that went off about 30 seconds after it was given to us so we didn't get much time to look around the lobby area. Our server was very chatty and talked at a million miles an hour, I don't think I caught most of what she said but got the gist of it.

Drinks of choice today were a non-alcoholic frozen mango Daiquiri and a frozen lemonade.

I had the special which isn't on the menu but was bloody amazing, it was the deconstructed Dragon Roll or bowl (I didn't quite catch what she called it), oh my, I didn't want this to end. I still don't know exactly what was in it but basically think of a giant roll of tempura sushi on a plate, salmon, tuna, avocado, mango salsa, tempura batter, all piled on top of a generous portion of sticky jasmine rice. John had the Mongolian beef, he also said this was delicious, good job really, as I wasn't about to share any of mine!

John had the Pineapple upside down pudding, loved it, and I had the bit of a marmite 'Fried Wontons' which are pineapple and cream cheese wontons, now I hate marmite, but these were really nice, not overly sweet but the honey and vanilla drizzle provided just the right amount of sweetness.

We walked dinner off by wandering around Gorilla Falls Exploration trail, I love the aviary and we always spend time just watching the birds, especially the Weavers. I'd stay and watch the gorillas all day if I could.

I then got the best photo of the whole holiday when we saw the hippos...

...isn't he adorable! Those teeth!

This was followed by another safari, we had fastpassed this for 6:30 so we could get a later safari at about 7:15, lots of giraffes this time around. I took lots of slightly blurry useless photos as usual.

It was starting to get dark now so we took a walk over to Pandora to use 2 snack credits on a Night Blossom each. The walk into Pandora from Harambe is lovely when its dark, the sounds, smells and the atmosphere changes and all you can hear are birds and insects and there are tiny green lights flickering amongst the trees which for a split second we both thought were fire flies! We didn't hang around here for long as we are back for After Hours next week so left around 9 to have an early night.

A measly 6,839 steps today! We did spend the morning at Typhoon Lagoon without my phone to track the steps so that's my excuse! We have a lazy day planned for tomorrow and the Spirit of Aloha dinner booked at the Poly
