Covering highlights in your hair...
I have naturally very dark hair, but have had highlights fir a few years now, caramel tones. My hair is so dry, and I don’t want to get them re done, I would rather go natural or find another way to colour my hair. It would cost me an absolute fortune to have them stripped and dyed at the hair dressers (costs me £90 for a cut and a half head)
Does anyone know of a way I can tone them down to get some nourishment back into my hair at home? Nothing too drastic but is there a product I can use at home? I will get it cut soon so that will remove some of them but not all. I just don’t want to spend an absolute fortune if I can help it!

It's been a LONG time since I had highlights but same, I just coloured over them with a permanent box dye very similar to my natural hair. Check the box, but think it's something like 8 weeks after your last colour is fine to treat as an all over colour. Because I was going darker, it covered over them really well.
That was the last time I used permanent dye, it's all grown out now. Now I just use the occasional semi whenever I want to blend the greys out. Typically just before holidays. |

Thanks, I use the bodyshop Ginger shampoo & conditioner as I get an itchy scalp with other shampoos, it’s the only one I’ve found in years that doesn’t make me itch.

Thanks all. My natural colour is a very dark brown with a hint of chestnut in it, so I’ll have a look in the next few days. I was just worried about the blonde ends going pink! But we shall see!
