Advice on Uber and Lyft

Hi Dibbers

We are staying at CSR next May 🤞. My partner will be using Uber or Lyft for golf trips and we will also have a trip to Walmart

How does this work? Is the Uber app the same as Uk one?

Don’t have a clue with either really. Where to we start?

Thanks

BB

It's really easy, download the app and link to a payment account, I use PayPal. Hopefully this hasn't changed since our last trip in 2019 when we used Lyft and couldn't fault them. Just be mindful of surge charging though, if its a busy time they charge more.

Lyft tens to be a bit cheaper and there is always a coupon floating around. I can't remember if you can download it here, I know I downloaded it at our hotel in California. The Uber app is the same one as you use here, it will detect your location.

Have you used them here or are you a total beginner? Essentially when you login to the app you will see a map and your current location. You will then enter where you want to go, the app will search for a nearby driver and when it's found one (never more than 2 minutes any time I've used them) it will display the driver's picture, star rating, license plate number and make and colour of car. You will then see his location pop up on the map and you can watch him driving towards you. On the journey your app will be tracking your route and when you arrive it will know you're there, no need to pay driver, just get out and the app will give you the option of adding a tip. Invoice will be in your email.

Thank you so much. Is PayPal the preferred payment do you know?

We used Lyft a lot during our last visit. I downloaded the app and linked my credit card to it and it's good to go.

I would recommend downloading it prior to going and setting it up. I think I'd downloaded mine about 8 months before we arrived and after a while I started to get offers through. We were lucky enough that we had 50% of our first 10 trips when we got there.
