ESTA renewal help please...
We have received an email stating our ESTAs are about to expire. We are due to go to Boston in October, NYC in December and Florida in April (we hope!).
I intend to get them renewed sooner rather than later, however is it best to wait until after they have expired and reapply or can they be renewed whilst having some time left on an existing one? I seem to recall there being issues with ESTA renewals or renewal dates so I don't want to create carnage. Is there a way to see how long is left on our existing ones? Thanks in advance |

You can get a new ESTA any time you want - the new one cancels out the old one if you still have any time left on it.
It is always a NEW ESTA, not a renewal of an existing one. To see when your existin one expires just go to the ESTA site at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/ and click "check ESTA status" with your details and it will tell you when it expires

As uktigg says you can get a new ESTA anytime you like. Dozens of Dibbers have since the proclamation was issued.
But you can check the status of your current ones here. You'll need your passports. esta.cbp.dhs.gov/individualStatusLookup Don't forget your ESTA only has to be valid for the day you travel to the USA Mick

Thank you Mick and uktigg. The thoughts are to just crack on and get a new one in place. We are assuming there may be a rush on ESTAs if the USA suddenly opens up!
Oh look, there goes a pig past the window! |

Renewed ours in June 2020 confidently expecting to go in Nov 2020 and April 2021 - what could possibly go wrong?
Good for Nov 2021 don't you think? Mick

When filling in the ESTA what do you enter for point of contact when in the USA and the address?
We are hiring a villa but have no point of contact and at this stage don’t know the full address of the villa. |

Over the years I've seen Dibbers in the same position put "unknown". You may have to complete phone numbers with zeroes.

PS
Assume you'll know the address by the time you do your API? That information is shared with US immigration. Mick

Yes Mick it’ll be verified by then. We do know the address based on we know where the villa is but not had confirmation of the house number. In other words I’ve stalked the location via Google street view and sussed out where the villa is based on the information given to me from Debbie’s Villas
