Greetings from the West Coast- Day 2 Dylan’s Famous Tour & Alcatraz
I was up initially at 2.30am then managed to get back to sleep waking at 4.30am! I began getting ready at 5am and had a room decaf coffee in the process. Ramona and Alex woke in due time and once all ready we grabbed breakfast and brought it back to the room. The selection was continental and very good.
We headed out and called a lyft at 7.30am and had received instructions on where to meet the Dylan’s tour guide under a gazebo by fisherman’s Wharf. Hotel Del Sol Waiting for our Lyft Meeting point for the Dylan’s Famous Tour There were quite a few waiting and we were called to join Rolando’s tour. He gave a brief on what we would cover and gave a history overview of the area the entire time we were touring. We made 3 photo stops and also drove past some iconic landmarks, I got some fairly good pics and was pleased to have seen the Mrs Doubtfire house. We then headed to Muir Woods for an hour and we had a lovely hike around stopping for souvenirs and a drink at the start. The next stop was Sausalito and we stopped at the bakery for lunch which I thought was just okay but Alex enjoyed before buying some sweets. Lunch in Sausalito Rolando then made 3 drop offs and we were delivered near to the Alcatraz area. We were too early for our tour which I’d booked for 3.30pm and so we went to look around Fisherman’s Wharf buying a Hard Rock Cafe magnet for our collection and seeing the sea lions, not many were out. We headed back to check in for Alcatraz and restroomed before getting in line. Nachos with cheese sauce and jalapeños was purchased on the crossing and we then disembarked on the island to be given a brief of our visit. The tour was fascinating and on arriving back for the ferry, we just missed one! Alex was not pleased but was able to have a vape. I’d hit a brick wall with jet lag but the rest stop revived me. A decision was made for in and out burger, a cheese melt for me! We Ubered back to eat. Ramona was exhausted and suffering with back pain and jet lag was not helping and this was frustrating. I snoozed all evening on and off and felt unwell through tiredness. I showered for bed later and had no issue dropping off. |

That breakfast pastry looks delicious! The tour looked great and the pics from Muir Woods are beautiful. You really managed to accomplish a lot, even with missing the ferry. Poor Ramona, jet lag is the worst and back pain is awful too. Hopefully after a good nights rest you will all feel better.

Fantastic day We did this Dylan's tour and had Rolando, such a fun guy. We loved Sausalito, could've spent all day there.
I am amazed at your stamina for doing Alcatraz after the tour on your first full day In and Out burger is delicious, looking forward to it again on our next west coast trip. I hope Ramona's back got better! |

We have the Dylan's tour booked for September and have a separate day planned to visit Sausalito.
Glad you had a fantastic time.

Oh you’re in for a treat. I was unsure about booking the tour initially as we did debate hiring a car and touring around ourselves but we both agreed that we’d made the right decision within the first half an hour of being part of it.
Sausalito is lovely, we had limited time to explore but enough to get a taster. |
