Berry Town Center (and the new Sherlock's!)
In the course of our current Brit Guide updates, we have been paying special attention to the Berry Town Center development out on Highway 27 (all the way west along Highway 192 in Kissmmee, then south for almost 2 miles).
This will be the new home of the highly popular Sherlock's restaurant (one of Orlando's leading tea/coffee houses), after its recent move from the town of Celebration. Many DIBBers already know about Sherlock's and its British owners Mark and Penny Thornhill and will therefore want to make a special note of their new location (when it opens in a week or two) and what's in Berry Town Center in general. First off, this location is right next to the big Highlands Reserve vacation home development, and in front of the Regal Palms Resort, which are two great accommodation choices in an area that is chock-full of good villa options (as well as the excellent Bahama Bay Resort, which is just up the road). Highway 27 is slowly becoming a busier and more vibrant area, but this section is still largely a quiet, residential area, which gets a bit livelier in the early evenings as folk return from the theme parks. Berry Town Center itself consists of a number of different elements and is based around a big Publix supermarket and its adjacent Pix petrol station. The Center is divided into two main parts - the upper part (on the corner of 27 and Berry Boulevard) consists of the Publix and Pix (the latter of which is right on Highway 27, while the rest of the Center is set back slightly), plus Sundays, an English-style (and owned) pub and restaurant, Superior Real Estate, Hair Masters salon, Creations Nails & Spa, a Liquor store, Louie's Tobacco store, a Mortgage Center, Welcome Homes USA office, Chinese Restaurant (the Bamboo Wok - although the name is hard to see!) and Mia Pizza. The Publix draws a lot of traffic throughout the day, hence this is the busier part of the Center (at the moment). Sundays is a typical English-pub-abroad type of affair, with good fish and chips and decent beer choice, but it also appeals to the locals, too. They obviously show all the British football, and some of the bigger rugby and cricket events (but not all - some of them are hard to get or are pay-per-view events, which some pubs can't afford). Open from 11am-1am (food until 11pm), the menu is traditional British and there is live entertainment on Friday evenings. The lower part is also divided into two smaller plazas, one with Kumo Japanese restaurant and Linksters Tap Room (a golf-themed bar which allows smoking and, therefore, doesn't serve food) and the second with the new Sherlock's (on the corner, facing Linksters), Leslie's Pool Supplies, a UPS store, Paradise Vacation office, Spice of Life Indian restaurant (a really good choice for curry, by the way; the owners are from Manchester, where they also had several curry houses) and a new Mexican restaurant on the far corner (open 7am-6pm). There is also an Applebee's restaurant at the front of this lower plaza, which is a good navigation point. All in all, there is some good shopping and dining choice here (Publix are probably the most reliable supermarket chain in the area) and, hopefully, the arrival of Sherlock's will make the lower part of the Center as busy as the upper part. So hurry along the next time you are in town if you'd like to see somewhere new, and don't forget to stop here for breakfast, lunch or a relaxed dinner if you are staying nearby! |

Thanks for letting us know. We stayed at Highland Reserve last year and we used Berry centre a lot in particular the Publix and also Applebees. I have read a lot of good reports about Sherlocks so can't wait for it opening so we can give it a try during this years trip.

Great area to be in, although I have to admit to being a little biased. In today's climate when so many businesses are folding, it's nice to see some new growth. Good luck to the owners of Sherlocks, may your business grow and prosper!

Highgate Park, within Legacy Park is just 2 mins drive from Berry Town Center and we look forward to trying the new Sherlocks when we go out there in August.
Applebees is already one of our favourites being a great family restaurant. . |
