Car Hire - Any Bargains to be had?

Hello

We go August 17th and I'm now looking to book car rental. I am a Hertz Gold Club Member but they have an offer on at the moment (for 15% off and free additional driver) that sadly ends on July 31st so will be no good for us

Where should I start looking? I've had a butchers at US Rentacar but their best prices seem to be with Dollar and I've read some horrible reports about them recently regarding overcharging and upselling etc

I don't know where to start and not get ripped off

Thanks in advance

I booked Dollar with them this year and had no problem at all.

I always go for the cheapest and so far no real problems.

I used budget the first year and wouldn't use again. Got hard sell, no free upgrade despite the offer and a pretty crappy car!
Last year used Alamo and would use again, we liked picking out our car.
This year were going with Dollar as they were cheapest for Int SUV, just check ur paperwork and stick to your guns and say NO!

I would not go with Alamo at Sandford as a lot of people get free Alamo car with their package. This can cause queues of 2 hours and although their building is air conditioned the queue sometimes snakes outside into the heat. I like Avis and you can join Avis preferred before you go. There is no charge for this and they will probably send you a free upgrade voucher. I'm not sure about Sandford but at MCO with Avis preferred you can go straight to the parking garage to pick up your car rather than having to wait in the queue in the terminal building.

Check the following out, as prices vary from time to time and by car, no one provider is consistently the best.

usrentacar
uscarhire
netflights
carhire3000
carhireflorida
autoeurope.
brits alamo.
Virgin Atlanic
Expedia
netflights
Hertz, 10% using AA CDP 504335

Also recently dollar UK have been reported as good.

All these sites will provide adequate insurance by default.

Remember the "better" insurance policy actually provides no different cover, just additional drivers and a pre-paid tank of fuel.
