Help & ideas for wedding music please guys. Only 2 months to

Hi guys, wondering if you could try to help out a damsel in mild distress

2 months exactly to go today (11/11/11) till our Floridian wedding (Venue is the Omni Orlando Resort) and still not decided on my processional music!

I don't even now how long the track has to be but guessing probably 1.30 mins?

I have emailed our Virgin rep to ask, but so far no reply from last week, they must be getting busy now...

With it being Orlando, we were going to have a Disney song (acoustic version) but now not sure.. (aarrrggghhh heeelllllpppp! )

As i am pretty new i connaot post links, but here they are below, just copy and paste link from the www bit and remove the brackets around the last (w).. Sorry

Disney track is If I Never Knew You' from Pocahontas (piano version) on you tube here: ww(w).youtube.com/watch?v=YDiSY...eature=related

Or an original version of Canon (just the first 1.30 mins or so) here: ww(w).youtube.com/watch?v=fgEdE5aLibc

Or Dances with wolves soundtrack (but find it a little repetitive and maybe somewhat depressing even though it is a beautiful piece) : ww(w).youtube.com/watch?v=iJLPckUEcao

Pleassse can you tell me what you had/going to have for your procession music to maybe help give me some ideas.

I would LOVE to hear all your songs and ideas

Big love and hugs

xxx

The most important thing when choosing the music is that it speaks to you both. Is there a band you both like or a film that has a soundtrack you could look at?

I think the music from Pocahontas is gorgeous and there are some beautiful acoustic versions.

There is a beautiful song called Stealing Cinderella which is often used for the father, daughter dance but I think it would work for a processional. It's a real tear jerker though!

We had "Grow Old With You." by Adam Sandler played on a violin for our processional then for the recessional we had "Oo De Lally".

For guest seating we had:

Spectromagic Medley Instrumental
Beautiful (from Cinderella)
So Close (from Enchanted)

For Gareth: Canon in D Major

For Me: Traditional Bridal March

Recessional: Traditional Bridal Recessional

Music was by far one of the toughest choices I had to make!

The other suggestion would be to tell your planner if you want it played in full. So many times I see where songs are cut short once you've made it up the aisle. Instrumental music isn't as noticeable as a natural fade is easy to do BUT if you and your partner have sat and sat listening to songs and picked it do to the lyric content it would be a shame to have it cut out and not get the affect you want it to be. Pass this detail on to your planner and let them know that you want something played in full.

Having said that keep in mind the length of the songs you are picking. I was asked to play the Somewhere Over The Rainbow song and asked to play it in full. I did tell them that this is one of the longest songs to pick and you'll be surprised that on the day a 4 minute song can feel like an eternity. I gave her the instructions to turn and catch my eye if you feel it needs to be cut short. On the day not only did she catch my eye but she grinned and nodded indicating I was right. I didn't just cut it off but waited until the verse was ending and then faded.

Another thing I want to add is please please please please whatever you do SLOWLY walk down the aisle. Bride's have waited their entire life for this special moment to come and on the day nerves take over and they FLY down the aisle. I usually have a word with whomever is escorting the bride (if there is someone) and tell them to find the natural temp of the song and slowly make their way down. It's your moment... enjoy it for all it's worth and all of the effort you've put into planning it.

I am having this dilemma as well! We are having Aerosmith Don't wanna miss a thing on the way back down the aisle as that is "our" song, but I am having trouble thinking of something for me to enter to! It is a small wedding at the Royal Chapel on the I drive with just us, our 2 daughters and the in laws. I will be coming down the aisle with just our girls. Had thought about Shania Twain, "From this moment" as the words are lovely.

Good luck choosing and have a great day!

I loved picking our wedding music! It was hard though, but the best place to start is songs that mean something to you, or have meaningful lyrics or nice melodies.

We had Shania Twain for both me walking down the aisle and us walking back up it as husband and wife: From This Moment On and Forever and For Always.

For background music whilst people were waiting I found some lovely instrumental music on a wedding CD including Eidelweiss (from Sound of Music), Falling in Love (by The O'Neill Brothers) and Canon in D.

On our DVD we had a montage made with Leona Lewis singing "A Moment Like This"

Our first dance was "Your Song" by Ewan McGregor sung in the film Moulin Rouge

All the songs above bring a tear to my eye when I hear them and remember our day
