Disney Feast West&East Day 24 : Typhoon Lagoon and Narcoossee's

Its Sunday 19 August and tomorrow we leave OKW – we are all a bit sad as it means leaving the Disney Bubble and that we are on the end stretch of the holiday.

As we had juggled the plan earlier in the week, we are now down to visit a waterpark at the weekend which is generally not recommended.

Having saved previously for a trip on the DTD balloon flight , I have decided to put this money towards getting a premium spot again at TL

We are out by 0830 and at the park for opening where I go to get a premium spot, to be told they only take 4, so as there are 5 of us I have to rent 2 spots – which wasn’t what happened at BB but the CM isn’t having any of it. As we intend to be here all day, I cave in and rent the two spots ( yes, you can imagine what Andy said) – well, at least we had lots of space !

"getaway glen"

leaning palms

The area, Getaway Glen, is nice and secluded. As with BB its near food, loos and the lazy river so that makes it pretty ideal in my books.

Andy & I settle in with a Danish and coffee and the boys run off to try the wave pool and lazy river , where we join them for a circuit or two. There is no elegant way to get into those tubes – not the “up and under” method, not the “ turning turtle” nor the “leap of faith” – all these methods are just guaranteed humiliation

We have some photopass pics of us in the inflatables, but in case any whaling boat crew are reading , I wont post them as they may get overexcited at the blubber on display !

Lunch comes from Leaning Palms and consists of cheeseburgers and Pizzas for the boys while we share a Pulled pork sandwich – all good value on the DDP for 5 CS credits .

We queue up for the family raft ride for absolute ages – to discover a family is 4 people so we cant all ride together anyway. The boys go first and we follow with Andy narrowly avoiding concussion on a protruding rock on the way down. It really wasn’t worth the wait.

We take another round on the lazy river and the boys go off to try out the slides – humunga kowabunga being Jamie’s particular favourite and with no wait, a multiple re-rider.

not busy

definitely busy

check out the clouds

Around 2pm we are wilting a little and our plans to stay all day are in some doubt and by 2.30 everyone is ready to leave – the clouds and breeze are definitely picking up.

By 2.51 we are in the car and on the way out and at 2.54 there is an almighty storm and lightning strike. As we exit the DTD area we see an ambulance heading into TL with its sirens going. The rain really is torrential on the way back to OKW but has thankfully stopped as we pull up at our block.

We finish off the laundry and pack the last cases so we are all ready to leave tomorrow.

Around 5.45 we set off for Narcoossee’s , opting for the buses this evening. For the first time in our entire stay, the right bus pulls up straight away , simply as we have allowed so much extra time ! The journey is really quick and we arrive at MK at 6.15, getting the water taxi across and arriving at the GF at 6.30 – a full 30 minutes early for our 7pm reservation.

We are seated within 10 minutes and I begin to fret that we will be way finishing far too early to be able to stay and see the fireworks from outside the restaurant.

It’s a really lovely place . We don’t have a window table but can see out just as a downpour starts – its almost horizontal rain and the server comments that there may not be any fireworks if this keeps up.

We have the sourdough bread .

All the boys order from the kids menu so we decide we will pay for them oop and just use 4TS for our meal.

I have the cheese to start and Andy has the crabcakes – both are delicious.

We both order the lobster and steak for mains – Andy has both pieces of lobster.

The boys have the ‘smores for dessert

and we share the shortcake ( disappointingly average ) and the pecan pie.

All in all, a delicious dinner . Except Connor’s mac’n’cheese which was horrible – bland and congealed and just bleurgh.

Ok, the bill, deep intake of breath : the 2 meals covered by DDP came to a $value of $170 after tax and then a tip of $32. The boys meals came to $30 before tax , and then we had extras like the starters, coffee , wine and brandy which added another $70 – so our total cash bill was $102. We used what we had left on our Disney card and so only ended up parting in cash with the $32 for our meal and $54 for tip, boys meal and our extras. Not that bad but had it all been cash it would have been a mighty $275.

We have 5 TS credits left for our last day and with nothing booked, the thinking is we will have breakfast at OKW .

Its about 8pm so with quite a bit of time till the fireworks, we decide we will head over to the park. A watertaxi is waiting and we are almost across the water when the captain announces we are in a “holding pattern” and have to wait to dock- which is unfortunate as the heavens open again and we all try to lean in to the middle of the boat to avoid the lashing rain. Its really quite funny as the boat rocks up and down and water pours off the canopy down people’s necks.

We scurry for cover on the dock but its unrelenting and we don’t feel like visiting the park any more ! People are leaving the park in their droves so we wait for a brief let up in the rain and run over to the bus stop where an OKW bus is waiting and we jump on.

Its just before 9 and we don’t know if there will be fireworks or not but that’s twice the rain has come when we planned to see Wishes so we take that as an omen that its just not meant to be . As we arrive at OKW we can see the Epcot fireworks even though its still raining quite hard. Well, at least we saw some !

We are pleased to be back in the dry and just enjoy our last night here

Sat Nav Sabotage – nil.
Shopping count – also nil
DDP Count: 5 CS at Typhoon Lagoon, 4 TS at Narcoossees ( $ value 170)

For our last day we have 5 TS, 8 CS and 31 snack credits . Eating heads on tomorrow then !

Hi

I am going to eat at Narcoossee's with my veggie wife, as her meal will only be $28 i thought it might be a waste to use two dining credits on her meal, did you just tell the server you are paying oop at the start or after the meal?

Thanks

At the start before we ordered and then again at the end just to make sure but he seemed pretty well versed in split receipts . Have a lovely meal there !
