Beach Club Getaway - Day 9 - Discovery Cove

We arrived at Discovery Cove at 7:15 and there were already a few waiting to go in. Registration was quick and we were escorted down to get our cabana. There was a slight delay getting in today as they were removing a tree that had been struck by lightning.

Our cabana was very private with one side overlooking the Starfish dolphin pool.

We went off to breakfast. They serve eggs, bacon, sausage etc along with French toast and pastries. Fruit and juices are all included.

You eat outside under the shade of umbrellas.

After breakfast we picked up our wetsuit jackets and masks.

The changing room and showers are well maintained throughout the day.

There are also plenty of lockers available.

We then headed into the lazy river for a snorkel round to the aviary. There are no fish in this area.

The backside of water. A quote shamelessly stolen from 'the Jungle Cruise'.

Into the aviary to feed the birds. It is best to go first thing as they mob you for the food as they are hungry.

The freshwater oasis has been added since our last visit and we really enjoyed this. They have otters and marmosets. The otters are behind glass and tend to spend most of the day sparing with each other.

The marmosets are on an island and the staff member took my camera to get me some close up shots. A nice touch.

It was then time for our daughters to do the dolphin swim. As we had been a few times before we decided that we would just watch and take photos.

I was lucky to catch this shot. I did end up with a lot that I didn't lol

Two happy girls after their time was up.

We then went into the grand reef. This area has marine fish and is very cold after you have been in the sun for a while. But worth it.

There are massive rays in this reef.

The sharks are behind glass but it is done well so you imagine they are in the same pool as you.

There is a large blind puffer fish they hand feed using a stick.

After the reef and a short break back in the cabana we went to see the marmoset they bring out to show people. This is a different species than the ones on the island.

Time for lunch. This is the lunchtime menu.

The food is good with plenty of choice.

This is what I chose. Chicken teriyaki and rice with a salad and cheesecake for desert.

After lunch it was time to relax back in the freshwater oasis. They have a great area with submerged seating. Perfect.

After that bit of relaxation we went to see the otters, marmosets and back into the aviary one last time.

Then a final chill out back at the well stocked cabana

After getting showered and changed it was time to end the fantastic day there. 7:30am to 5:30pm. Everyone should treat themselves to a day at Discovery Cove.

Fantastic photos, and looks like you had a brilliant time there. Never having been your photo report gives an excellent review.

I'm debating on booking a non swim day, the chicken teriyaki has me tempted haha! Was it as good as it looks?

The foods great Jilly, I've done a non-swim trip (babysitting and photographer basically lol) and it's just as much fun. You can get interactions with dolphins still if you are the right place at the right time.

SMAX: Do they serve wine and Bud in the restaurant? Just weighing up wether to get a cabana or not. Fancy a Bouy with "Tuna" written on it, but Mel's not so keen on that part.

Yes draft bud and bud light in the restaurant too and they have wine if you want that. Booze is the same in the park as in the cabana except it is in bottles not just by the glass.

Food is good quality and you can have as much as you want too.

Thanks, it does look brilliant. I would actually love the swim but there's only so many times you can say "aw lets splash out since its our honeymoon" before things get crazy expensive! So a nice relaxing non swim day is an option instead.
