18 Days Of Orlando Magic - Pre Travel Day, Premier Inn Gatwick
So the day has finally arrived! I've spent all day pacing around waiting for 4.15pm when the taxi is due to pick us up, so it decides to arrive early at 3.55pm and we leave in a bit of a rush! We arrive at Gatwick south terminal at 4.50pm. Twilight check in for our Virgin flight tomorrow. It opened right on 5pm and we are checked in and have chosen our extra leg room seats by 5.20pm. We have chosen rows 41 & 42 seats A,B,C. Heading over to the North Terminal to check into the Premier Inn. On the monorail. Ryan will kill me for posting this! ;-) Premier inn Gatwick North. I booked this in December and got two rooms for £40 each. 1 family for us and 1 double for Jean and Roger. You can see how close the hotel is situated to the Sofitel. Monorail runs between the two hotels. Check in is all automated but staff are on hand to help. Our family room. It's very 'cosy' but fine for one night! Charlotte has said that dad must not sleep next to her as he will keep her awake with his snoring! View from our room on the first floor. We are room 133. I've zoomed in a bit here but the rooms must be insulated as it's very quiet, there is no outside noise at all. Time to go for dinner. We have already booked a table for 6.30pm. Premier Inn called us earlier today to see if we wanted to book a table as the hotel is busy tonight. We decided we would and I'm glad we did! Entrance to restaurant. The first of many! :-) Charlotte has decided on the kids menu. She's 12 so it's always hard to choose between adult or kids menu. I can assure you that the kids sized meals were plenty for her and this girl likes her food! This is the kids pizza! It came with a side salad too. I had the 8oz bacon and cheese rarebit burger. Very yummy! Jean had the 8oz rump steak without sauce. Ryan had the 8oz rump with bacon and cheese. Ian had the 16oz ultimate full house burger (you might notice throughout this report that Ian always has to have the biggest thing on the menu! ) Roger had steak too but I failed to take a picture so I managed to get one of his pudding which was Apple crumble and custard. This is the kids menu profiteroles and vanilla ice cream. Ian had the choc-o-lot delight sundae (the biggest pudding!) No pudding for me or Jean so a Costa Latte and a good old English cuppa were had! The Costa Coffee shop is open 24 hours. After dinner we go for a wander to walk some of our dinner off. The bill came to £96 which was 5 adult mains, 1 kids menu, 3 puddings, 2 pints of Budweiser and 2 hot drinks. Service was good and our waiter was very attentive. Can't wait for tomorrow! The north terminal is deserted! Taking a seat! Charlotte decides to entertain us Back to the hotel to try and get some sleep but I can't see that happening! A quick stop to buy some water. It's cheaper in Costa than from the vending machines. Ryan and grandad Roger just checking out the football score (they think that we can't see them!) So that's it for today, I cannot wait for the morning. The plan is to meet Jean and Roger at 8am and head straight for security then the VRoom. Thanks for reading! Anna xx
