Disney Magic Med Cruise - July 2014 - Day 1 Travel Day

The day before the cruise we started off in the BA business lounge at Gatwick. With European flights you can find some good deals on BA that means flying business class is not much more or sometimes even cheaper than economy. The lounge alone is worth more than the difference in flight prices.

Champagne and free wifi. What more could a girl want?

The BA business class seats and service aboard is very good. Even though the flight to Venice is under 2 hours they do a drinks service and food service in that time.

More champagne on board.

Arriving at the airport there was virtually no passport control. They just saw we were British and waved us through without looking at them.

We then got the coach to Venice from Marco Polo airport. The return tickets were available from the machines in the arrivals hall. Just 11 euros each return.

The coach took about 25 mins and dropped us at the busy Piazzale Roma square. We then had to drag 4 suitcases and hand luggage over the new bridge along the grand canal to our hotel for the night. Venice was packed with tourists and a lot pulling large suitcases.

The hotel was one of there cheaper hotels in Venice, but clean and basic for one night. Venice is pretty but a little too over touristy for our liking. Glad we were not there for more than a couple of days. You could soon get bored with it for any longer.

Oh look what we found.

It was nice to see the chalked artwork inside the store.

We were on the way to St Marks Square. How many bridges did they build in this place?

And then we found it. Or are we back in Epcot?

Just don't eat in these places or you won't be able to afford your next holiday.

The view across the main channel we will be sailing through tomorrow.

We saw the magic coming into port from the plane as we landed.

It was starting to get dark so we decided to walk to the ferry terminal to see the Magic. It was quite a walk from St Marks Square. Traversing the streets and bridges. By the time we got there it was totally dark.

Tomorrow we will get to see it in its full glory. 11:30am check in time.

Look forward to reading this. We love Med cruises, and enjoyed our 1st DCL cruise - the Magic in the Med last summer.

Lovely start. . . Looking forward to seeing your trip reports. . . The Disney store looked lovely, a lot more character in the design than the one in our local shopping mall.
