Excited about Disney

Florida 2016- The One With A Wedding- Day 9
Yay- the sun is back! We all had cereal and were out by 8 ready for Kennedy space centre. Mia absolutely loves all things space. She chose this as her theme for her recently decorated room and wants to be an astronaut. She was obviously excited! The drive was really simply but we did go through loads of tolls so make sure you have lots of change. We exchanged our paper tickets at the will call window which was really simple. It seemed very quiet today, other than lots of school groups. We walked around the rocket garden first and then headed to the iMax for the film at 10. Our beautiful planet? Or something similar, the name escapes me! But it was amazing. Clips of earth taken from space and an insight into astronauts in the space station. Very interesting. After the film we went to the Atlantis exhibit. Again, breathtaking. I think even if you aren't 'into' space, you can't help but wonder after seeing all they have achieved. The guide said allow 2hrs for this area which we thought was a lot but we were there at least this time, there is so much to see and a simulator of a launch which we all enjoyed, Mia too! We stopped for lunch. We took a picnic but there were plenty of places to eat with the standard selection. We did the bus tour which showed you lots of the machinery etc that goes into shuttle launches. Tip- I'd suggest sitting on the door side of the bus (rather than driver side) on the way as you have far more photo ops there. This is the best pic we got of the vehicle assembly building. You get off the bus at the Apollo/ Saturn V centre. Here you go through a few rooms with shows/ films on in each. They give great information and it's very inspiring. Quite emotional in many parts of the day when you see remembrance displays and contributions to those who lost their lives. It's here you can touch moon rock and see parts of clothing, rocks, shuttles etc that have been used. After here we got the bus back to the visitor centre. The bus drivers are great at giving loads of info. It was now nearly 4 and we wanted to meet an astronaut. We thought it may be something nice for Mia to look back on. Sorry for the fussy pic- Lee only took one! We met Sam Durrance who flew on two missions into space. He signed this for Mia! After we shared a hot fudge sundae. Yum! Then walked back around the rocket garden before calling it a day just before 5. After Mia insisting, we bought some astronaut food! She picked the ice cream sandwich. Tasted nice considering but was very dry, as you would imagine really! Here what the pack says We headed for home and decided to go to giordanos. We liked it here last year. We signed up to the email club and had voucher for a free cheese flatbread. This isn't something you actually need before the stuffed pizza but as its free you kind of get drawn in! Here's the menu for the stuffed pizzas. We went for the meat and more meat. We ordered medium but a small would have been fine! Lee and Mia love Italian meats etc hence the choice. Here it is! It's basically like a pizza pie. The crust is more like a pastry with cheese and all the 'toppings' on the inside and a layer of tomato sauce on top. I managed one slice! Lee two and Mia half of one! Needless to say the rest is now sitting in the fridge. To be honest, I don't think we'll come back next trip, I felt sickly full after one slice (the flat bread didn't help!) Which ruins the whole evening! Overall a great day. I would recommend you do Kennedy space centre if you've never been. Definitely worth a visit at least once. Can't believe it's taken us 6 visits. Orlando football game tomorrow night so probably a relaxed day by the pool is on the cards.

What a great day and that blue sky! It was several trips before I reluctantly agreed to go to KSC and I absolutely loved it! Thought it was fascinating.

What a great day, we love it there. Relaxed but still plenty to see and do.
Your pizza looks delicious, somewhere else to add to our list, my boys would lap that kind of meat pizza up.

Lovely day, KSC took us six visits to get there too but agree well worth it, especially if you have a budding astronaut!
