Are Shellac nails ok for a 10/11 year old?
DD10 wants to get her nails done for her Birthday next week. Her nan is taking her to the lady she goes to but I'm not sure what she should be getting done. I don't get my nails done. Is shellac safe for her age as i'm sure I've heard removing it can be a pain? If not what would be best?

I would just get her nails painted with normal nail polish.
I get shellac on acryllics but you need to get it taken back off.

No! And if you found someone willing I'd be questioning the rules of their insurance

I would say no way. Much as I love it, it leaves my nails in a state so guessing it would really damage soft child's nails.

My nail lady has exceptionally agreed to do my 14 year old daughters with shellac gel as a one off holiday treat . My daughter has been pestering for years & we kept saying when you're 14 , we're away for 3 weeks so it's a one off . Previously she had holiday varnish with glitter or maybe nail art.

I would say NO - 14 is about the limit and even then I think you should go for either IBD Gel or Orly Gel and not Shellac as they have proteins in that shellac don't apparently.

Yep even though I used the oil they recommended mine are still dry! But for holidays it is brilliant, but not for kids!

You literally have to soak your nails in 100% acetone to get it off so it's not ideal for a young teen. It does dry out your nails - I will no longer have it on my fingers for that reason - even for holiday. I am lucky I have nice finger nails though so a coat of clear nail polish is all I do for hols now!
I do, do my feet however with gels - regularly and tbh they aren't in the best condition but if you use the oils and condition regularly they are OK. But as others have said - not for a child. |
