Maelstrom closed 5th October 2014, making way for the new 'Frozen Ever After' ride to open early in 2016, along with a new Anna & Elsa meet-and-greet in the Norway pavilion.

Located at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase, Maelstrom is an adventure for all the family on a troll-tormented Viking ship, travelling from modern day to historic Norway. Join the stormy vogage through a Norweigan fjord, troll-infested swamps, and on to the North Sea via a thrilling backward plummet!

Tricky trolls are out to befuddle you as you explore the heritage of Norway in this adventure-packed boat ride. Watch for polar bears and pirates and hold on tight! The spirit of adventure is always alive on Maelstrom.

Your Viking ship sails through fjords and storms, over waterfalls, and past a three-headed troll. Sounds terrifying, but the actual ride is tame enough for most kids to enjoy.

The Viking-ship-styled play area, located to the left of the Norway pavilion, is a good place to wait with kids too young for the ride.
