If you fancy something completely different from the parks then try horse riding in Lake Louisa State Park.
We booked a 1 hour session for my daughter's 8th birthday for 4 riders through Groupon. Approx $100.
I have never rode a horse before but it was very enjoyable. The park is very large so once we entered the park by car, we had to drive another 2 or 3 miles to the meeting place.
We went early before it was too hot.
The staff were very good and the hardest part was mounting the horse using a ladder.
The trail is at a very slow pace, basically walking in single file through pine trees.
It is the complete opposite from the parks.
Once back at the meeting place, there was an opportunity for photos still mounted so take your camera or phone.
Then once, back on two feet, a tip was expected.

I would recommend it.
