Disney's Extra Magic Hours

This is a Disney program that allows you to visit a particular Disney theme park on a designated day beyond regularly scheduled operating hours.

Almost every day, at least one park will offer Extra Magic Hours. FastPass+ cannot be booked during the EMH times.

To take advantage of Extra Magic Hours you have to be staying at one of the following:-

• Disney Resort hotels
• Walt Disney World Swan Hotel
• Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
• Shades of Green® Resort
• Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels
• Four Seasons Resort Orlando
• Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek
• Waldorf Astoria Orlando

Disney's Extra Magic Hours can be either in the morning or in the evening.

Morning Extra Magic Hours

• Occurs one hour prior to regularly scheduled park opening.
• If the park opens at 9am you will be allowed in at 8am.
• Transportation to the park begins 30 minutes prior to the start of the Extra Magic Opening Time.
• You must present a valid Resort ID (Magic Band/Room Card) at the park's entrance.
• Non Disney resort guests will not be allowed to enter the park until the normal opening time.

Evening Extra Magic Hours

• Extend the parks opening up to two hours beyond the park's scheduled closing time.
• You need to present a valid resort ID (Magic Band/Room Card) at the attractions before you can ride.
• Non Disney resort guests are allowed to remain in the park however they would not be able to ride any of the attractions.

How Extra Magic Hours Affect Crowds.

Extra Magic Hours (EMH) always increase the crowd levels in the park by quite some margin. With thousands of on-site hotel rooms each having multiple guests that is a potential massive crowd that could be heading for the same park, the one that has EMH that particular day.

Should you visit a park that has Extra Magic Hours.

Only if you are staying on-site and can take advantage of EMH.

Morning EMH.
Get to the park just before the EMH time, factor in travel time, especially at the Magic Kingdom where you may have to wait for a tram then either monorail or ferry once you have arrived.

Our advice is to use EMH in the morning and if you can, park hop to another park later in the day. Most people who use morning EMH have a tendency to stay in the one park all day. So as other guests come in to the park after official opening time the park gets more and more crowded.

Evening EMH
Most guests that are on-site and want to take advantage of evening EMH will head to the park that has eveing EMH first thing in the morning and stay in the park all day ready to take advantage of the evening EMH when it comes around.

Our advice is to take advantage of evening EMH more affectively by going to a park that doesn't have EMH that day then later in the evening park hop to the park that is offering evening EMH. This way you avoid the crowds during the day in the EMH park but can take advantage of the lower crowds during the actual Extra Magic Hour.
