Rental apartments in San Francisco?

Hi,

Has anyone rented an apartment for their stay in San Francisco? We are staying 5 nights. Any recommendations please?

Jackie

How many people? Do you have a particular neighbourhood in mind? Budget?

VRBO is a good place to start. I've rented a few apartments so may be able to help

We stayed in this one in September. Really liked it and would recommend both the apartment and Air bnb.

There are just 2 of us, DH and I. Budget is nowhere near set yet, and as we'll have no car while in San Francisco we'd be looking for a location that gives us easy access to all of the 1st time visitor touristy things such as Fishermans Wharf, Alcatraz, shopping, Disney Family Museum, Coit Tower etc. An area with some local eateries and coffee shops would be great, but safety is the priority! We'd be looking for June 11 for 5 nights next year.

Do you have the details, and would you recommend it?

I would reccommend either Telegraph Hill or North Beach as areas to look at. Easy access to everything, incredibly safe, loads of fantastic restaurants, bars etc but not in the main tourist enclaves so you are not surrounded by loads of hotels etc.

There are loads of listings on VRBO. Unfortunately the place we have rented previously has gone to monthly rental only.

I would be careful with AirBnB in San Francisco there has been a big battle over its legality. I think rental has been approved but only in specific circumstances. Just something to be aware of.

Yes we did Jackie, there is a roof terrace. The apartment is in the marina district with plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants around. It is tight next door to Mel's Drive In diner. We had a rental car as we had driven up from LA and the apartment had a garage. We didn't use the car in the city but used buses and the odd taxi to get around as well as lots of walking!
