Will they... Won't they? August 2009

Be warned this could be a long read but I've been waiting for a long time to write this.

Introductions:

DH (32) is willing to go along with any of my mad plans, loves Florida and US generally particularly the shopping, the sun and ESPN (did anyone else follow the Brett Favre story relentlessly August 2008)

Me (31) recently been diagnosed with a serious addiction to the DIBB and this has had a serious effect on recent decisions. I'm on maternity leave at the moment following birth of DD on 5th May so my brain needs some external stimulation desperately, this is my escape mechanism.

DS (2) already one trip under his belt and how could he possibly cope without a return this summer (we'll wait and see). Recently a huge Handy Manny and Buzz fan.

DD (0) now this poor thing doesn't really have a say in everything but has been the cause of most of our procrastination.

Background; following our honeymoon in 2006 we fell in love with the place and only the lovely people on here can understand this but we do not want to waste our money going anywhere else. So in June 2008 we decided last minute to return, DD was 18 months old and we dreaded the flight and the heat but we thought we'd try it to find out. We are both teachers so always have to travel in August so we booked. It was FANTASTIC and better than we had hoped. There is so much to do for the little ones and we spent our time wandering around in the sun finding fountains and playgrounds and DS loved it! Better than going to the park in between the rain with a towel to wipe the slide or wasting money visiting a rubbish farm also in the rain. We agreed to save up for our next holiday so we could return every year. However, the Florida sun held a little magic for us and I knew as soon as we returned when I wanted to eat Betty Crocker Fudge icing from the tub that we had another little treasure on the way. Didn't want to get too excited as I had suffered a miscarriage in 2007 so realised how fragile pregnancy can be and how lucky we were. Everything went very slowly with plenty of tears at the scans and DD arrived on the bathroom floor 1 week overdue.

So over the last two months I have been having hourly mood swings over what we should do;
CONS - will it be too hot?; the flights are how much! ; swine flu! ; leaving my Father behind (unfortunately my Mum died suddenly at Xmas); maternity leave wage.
PROS - we LOVE it there, is it ever going to stop raining here?, would DS be scarred for life if he didn't return in 2009?, DS has grown out of all the T-Shirts we got last year.

Right now up to the present day, decided 2 weeks ago we definitely weren't going and then yesterday following 4th non-stop rain day of the holiday we decided we were. So at the moment we have no flight! No passport for DD! No tickets! No car! No plan! but we do have a booking for RPR for 1 week starting the 9th of August (buy 4 nights get 3 free which I just couldn't resist). However, following an average of 5 hours a day on the Internet I do have some back-up plans in progress.

This thread will hopefully be updated with more plans and maybe we won't even go at, hence the thread title. Maybe for other DIBB members at a loose end you can follow our progress and maybe remind me to cancel the RPR by 4th of August if we can't go! So "Watch this space" and see if we actually do make it there and please don't tell my Health Visitor about our plans as she may want to come back and check my mental health!

PS. thank you to Caz1712, Siddex and Dizneyblonde and a few others as you have been keeping me sane by reading all your trip reports! I've loved them. Also a thank you to all of the Dibbers who agree with taking babies and toddlers to Florida as you ease my guilt, I read and re-read this posts daily!
