I used to store them in the fridge then I read that this wasn’t a good idea as it changes the make up of the potato when they are then cooked. Something about the starch turning to sugar then that turning into Acrylamide.

I now keep them in a kitchen cupboard but they definitely don’t last as long. Will be investing in a special bag I think?

I keep all potatoes in their original bags in a large bowl in the kitchen cupboard, all other veg in the fridge in the drawer, I have noticed, as another poster said that potatoes seem to sprout much quicker recently, I really have to hunt in my local supermarkets these days for bags that haven't already sprouted

Carrots in the fridge in a bag and if truth be known we don't really like carrots that much but it adds colour to a meal 😊

I agree, but if they used to be sprayed with goodness knows what I think I prefer mine unsprayed (and unsprouting natch).

I am that woman you see bum in the air pulling out all the crates to get to the better dates at the back.

I seem to remember my.mum telling me never to eat a potato that had sprouted. Have to be honest I sometimes just cut them out when just on the turn and still here to tell the tale, but don't think I'd go much longer sprout than half a cm.

Every day is a learning experience. I just thought I was carp at making mash. 😂

Carrots- Wash and dry and keep in the veg storage in the fridge
Potatoes - We buy a bag at the farm shop which last ages, its brown paper and we keep in the garage in the cool
baby salad potatoes- wash and dry with kitchen paper and also in the fridge veg storage

We are lucky here we have a great farm shop/garage and a market three times a week which sells good quality fruit and veg the net bags you can buy in Lidl and Sainsburys for fruit and veg are also an option
