Companion ticket with virgin question

So, apparently I’ve nabbed myself a companion flight due to the spend on my credit card (which came as a shock but that’s another story 😊 )

Anyway, says i have 24 months to use it. Does this mean that I have to take a flight within 24 months or buy the ticket in that time - so in theory it could take that to 35 months?

Not planning to go in the next 2 years so would be good if it stretched into year 3 by buying 11 months in advance at the end of the 24.

My understanding is book within 24 months, however you could text and ask the flying club, they are very responsive and extremely helpful.
