One thing to bear in mind is that the deposit is non refundable in the event of cancellation with Rentalcars.

Rentalcars.com took a deposit at time of booking and then when I paid the balance was able to complete online checkin and skipt the counter with Alamo. Alamo didn't hold anything on my card. They took a swipe of the card when I was exciting at the barrier.
When I did online checkin I was able to see all the necessary insurances where in place with Alamo. As amf has said you will lose your deposit with Rentalcars.com if you cancel but otherwise cancellation is "free". I notice they have upped their deposit cost now. It used to be £25.

Have always used rentalcars.com for many years. No problems at all. In fact they have always come up £200 cheaper than anywhere else. Also they do price match guarantee which I have often managed to claim money back, plus quidco cashback.
