Florida Keys
Looking at somewhere different for next years holiday and was thinking about the Keys.
Any suggestions where to visit, what to do and where to stay? Is Miami or Fort Lauderdale worth a visit?

Hi there. I am booked for Hampton Inn islamorada this year. Am driving down from Orlando and it is 90 mins less driving than key west.
I have also read greAt reports from Hilton key largo. There are loads if watersport companies if you fancy that. Also sea life parks, turtle hospital, etc. If you make if as far as Key West there seem to be loads of attractions. Lots of bars, etc (which doesn't Suit me with two kids) I plan to visit Ernest Hemingways house as well. Have a look on trip advisor 'things to do' and their forum for great advice. |

The Hampton Inn at Islamorada is great. You get a free breakfast in the lobby and the rooms have a small kitchen area, handy with kids. It is quite central. You have to go and look for the tarpon in the harbour beside Bud n Mary's, you will not believe the size of them. Also if your OH is interested in fishing you can sometimes get a shared charter there, making the price reasonable. We have also hired a boat ourselves for the day.

We were advised that key west has a really full on party scene with lots of it sprawling out onto the streets ' can be rowdy, just a heads up.

Thank you we just want somewhere quiet to stay for a few nights to allow us to explore the keys.

For a full on party scene I think Ibiza, Ayia Napa or Faliraki and Key West isn't like any of those.
The only parts of Key West that could be "rowdy" are the top end of Duval Street and the area around Mallory square. Edited at 09:53 PM. Reason: Spelling |
