It looks more like it’s bubbled/blistered from the outside. A kettle/pan boiling nearby?

Could you see inside/the back of it?

😳 don’t get putting your fingers or the screwdriver inside 😳

Turn the sockets off at the electrics before touching it again

Not properly but the wiring clearly didn't look burnt. My hob is close but not that close. I ma concerned if a boiling pan could do this seems like poor quality but I guess I would rather it be that than faulty electrics.

Thnaks again really appreciate you all going to this effort to help explain this

I said turn electric off - not the switch -

is the switch direct behind the hob ? as above, it looks like it could be a contact burn, however you need to see the inside of that cover and the wires to confirm that, looks like you've not been left much length..

Ive burnt my hob knobs from large cast iron pans without noticing before.

I screwed it back in to leave or someone more experienced to do lol I guess it will take the electrician 5 mins to check lol... Strange thing is that the part that is melted is the opposite side to the hob

I know I read it again...I think I am just in such a panic. I mean turning the electric off would be obvious

This is the distance away from the plug so it seems far enough away .
