We told them when we booked as we were planning to cut back on treats to help pay for it. We wanted them to expect less gifts at christmas it's given them time to save their own money too

Am planning on getting a scratchcard form Etsy for the big reveal but,it is sooooooo hard keeping it a secret.

My husband and I are talking in secret but are very excited.

How did you tell your family?

That's sounds lovely, have a great time!

My ex-SIL told her kids (9+7) at the airport on the day they flew, that was the worst way as the kids had a meltdown at security and didn't believe they were going. So anything other than that would be fantastic (also yours are not 9 + 7 so are prob over the meltdown stage! )

Love reading these!

In 2017 we took our boys to London ( or so they thought!) for the weekend; at Breakfast we gave them a letter from Mickey inviting them to Disney World and if they wanted to come then to hurry up cause the flight left in 4 hours!

This year our eldest has sat the 11+ and we always said his reward for sitting the exam would be a return trip in 2020.

After his exam on Saturday we went for lunch and gave him a countdown chalkboard ... 21 sleeps until we go to Disney World!

If I’m honest the on the day reveal back fired a little as our eldest DS was overwhelmed and too nervous of the unknown and didn’t ride a huge amount ... this year we are not watching you tube all the time so he is well prepared!

We did surprise reveal back in 2016 for our first trip. We picked them up on the last day of school a little early as we had to travel to Manchester and told them they had the dentist. Brought out 3 boxes full of Disney and Harry potter goodies like autograph books, Mickey ears etc with printed maps of each park. Then told them that we were leaving for the airport right then and there. Best reaction ever and it's safe to say we all cried. Have a lovely trip!

Thought I would share ours from our family trip back in October 2018.
We booked the holiday in December 2017 but did not tell our two boys until April. We would have kept it a secret longer but too many people knew so it was only a matter of time before someone let it slip.

We timed the reveal around when the last series of Ant and Dec's Saturday night takeaway finished. The boys loved the show and every week wanted to enter the competition to win seats on the plane for series finale in Orlando.

A couple of weeks after the series had ended we arranged to go to my parents for a takeaway which is a treat in itself for boys! Once there, we ate and I suggested we play a game of Saturday Night Takeaway. I had done some Saturday Night Takeaway graphics which we put up before playing a lot of the popular games from the show. By the end of it. I had fixed it so that both my mum and dad (who were coming with us) had both won sealed A4 envelopes each. The boys were disappointed they had only won some chocolates. This is when I offered them the chance to win envelopes of their own. They had 2 minutes to search the house for hidden envelopes. At this point they had no idea what was going on and were just excited about the game. After the time was up, they had found each prize envelope. I filmed them opening their prize. Inside each envelope was one of the yellow boarding passes from the show along with details of the holiday printed on back. My youngest (then 5) was over the moon. My oldest (7 at the time) was more cynical and assumed it was all made up for the game. Each reaction was priceless and they still talk about it now.

We have it all recorded to watch back and a photo of the kids with their grandparents holding a 'Boarding Pass' is the first picture in the holiday album we had printed.

We go back again October 2020. This time the kids have just been told about it as we knew we could never pull another big reveal like that without being rumbled.

I'm way too excited and obsessed about Disney that there is literally no way that I could keep it a secret from my two. Plus we all enjoy the planning and the run up so any future reveal would have to be so far in advance that it wouldn't really be a reveal after all.
