My mom is using the e-cigs atm and finds these easier, than patches, gums etc

Shes slowley weaning herself off the e-cig ready to eventually not need them atall, shes also saved an absolute fortune,

My Wife used a book by Allen Carr - ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈/pcf2put

She tried to stop using patches, etc and failed - but this book REALLY works. Lots of people I know used it and stopped. The important thing seems to be that you DO carry on smoking whilst reading it and you must read to the end. There is no 'read last chapter only' solution but I can remember her finishing her last ciggy and saying "that was the last one I'll smoke" !...and it was. Three years ago this month.

I stopped with Champix I know some people say they have had bad side effects but I didnt. Just had very vivid dreams not scary ones just felt real if you know what I mean.

It took me 2 attempts first time I stopped the tablets too soon, second time my GP said to continue with them for a bit longer which I did.

I found them amazing both times after never having any willpower whatsoever and smoking 20 a day (sometimes more when we were socialising) the cravings were almost nil. I think that was why I stopped taking them too early first time much more successful the second time.

Having smoked for 30+ years I havent had a ciggie for about 5 years now. I do love that smell when someone first lights up but not enough to want one.

Best thing I ever did hubby stopped cold turkey I could never have done that. Now we just need to talk our eldest son in to it.

Good luck I am sure you can do it.

I used to be a very heavy smoker 20+ a day and wanted to give up, one reason being I wanted to start a family. I went cold turkey one day after running out of cigs, and the weather was awful so I couldn't get out to get any and so I decided then and there to stop.

I done it a day at a time, saying after one day ok I'll do 2 and so on, that was over 20yrs ago and I haven't smoked once since.

Just do a day at a time, think of your little boy and you will feel so much better for not smoking.

Its hard but you can do it, good luck

I'm using e-cigarettes at the moment and find they are really working. Plus picking the flavors is like being in a Baskin Robbins...atm I have Dr. Pepper, bubblegum and candy floss. Not everyone's cup of tea I admit but it puts a smile on my face.

Good luck with quitting. If you need moral support give me a shout!

My fil quit reading this too, been a few years ago now and never had another cigarette. Don't know how reading a book works but it obviously does :-).

I gave up smoking 20yrs ago, at the time I was a heavy smoker but a terrible event \[my best friend died at the age of 34] and the only vice she had was smoking, I was stunned at the time, and took a real hard look at smoking, I put on the patches, and did so for 2weeks when I realised I could do it on my own, but patches and any other gimmicks are not magic , you have to have a very strong desire and will power, so give it a go and good luck to you
