Mobile Halifax clarity mistake

So i think i've just done something stupid.

I applied for a Halifax Clarity card to use abroad. Input all my information and it came up saying I had been approved, however on this next page after confirming rates etc I changed my mind and bailed, so didn't click 'finish application', but cancelled instead.

It came up with a message saying that a search had already been carried out.

So now i'm worried that although I never fully submitted the card application i'm still taking a hit for the search as if I had accepted and completed it.

Any ideas knowledgable Dibbers?

Yes I know I was silly to bail on it if the search is on my file regardless...

Why did you change your mind ? It's a good card for using abroad , I've got one and would recommend it .
It sounds like you were quite well through the application so the footprint on your credit rating will be there.

To be honest I just had a sudden change of mind and 'don't really need another credit card' feeling and thought I was being sensible, but clearly not if I may as well have accepted it.

Surely not as bad as being declined though?

1 search will likely appear on your credit rating but it won’t be a catastrophe.

You're right i'm probably overthinking it, but i'm really precious about my credit rating now. I should have thought about it more before I clicked to cancel.

Yes, but presumably it wouldn't reflect the search until the next report comes out?

It updates monthly and unless you’ve a low score I wouldn’t be worrying

It's only really affected by multiple searches like someone desperate for a loan may look at many sites like those with a huge APR rate . This would have a negative impact on their credit rating . If you have only done one search I wouldn't worry .
