She has finally decided to drive up to our house. Petrol will be about £60 - £70 for a 525 mile round trip but at least she can do it when she wants at the time she wants.

This has really put me off travelling by UK rail.

Costs enough just to send my ds to school in hitchin and that’s 2 stops away for him and includes his discount card .
£60 for 3 of us to get from here to kings cross on a weekday and thats literally Stevenage - Finsbury Park - kings cross.. ridiculous

Pays for their wages, my sister is a train driver, she gets paid silly money, railways run on overtime on Sundays, the money they get is unbelievable, although I think it’s the government that do the fares

My sister went in at 3-30pm and finished at 8-30pm last sunday, easy £350 she said

Rail prices are crazy. My partner and I travel a lot between southwest England and Scotland - at least once a month. We can get EasyJet flights return on average for £60 - £70 and takes an hour each way. Going by rail £198 and 7 hrs... I'll certainly not be using rail.
