changing or postponing trip on booking

So I am thinking of booking with the 14 for 7 nights tickets, free dining plan for next year but I am not 100% sure if the whole family can do the trip, but it's such a great offer I can't resist for much longer - so my question is:

Has anyone had to postpone a booking (deposit only) with Disney from one year to the following, so if worst came to the worst and my family couldn't do the trip in 2020, how likely is it that Disney would allow me to carry the deposit over to the next year?

Anyone actually done this or asked the question?

Whilst they may let you move the deposit, it's all down to whether there will be the same offers. for the sake of £50 I'd book, add on or cancel as needed & at worst you lose £50

You could book just one person and then add the others on when you know they can come later and they would get the same deal.

Yes, we had to move last year as wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Disney let us move it to a year later for a £50 admin charge even though we upgraded and it cost us more.
Would probably be best if you just book for one person, as others suggested, as you can always add on more people later and they would get the same deal as you did now.

If you will need 2 rooms if everyone comes, I'd book 2 rooms each with one person in, just in case rooms aren't available when you finalise.
