Virgin reward upgrade voucher

Hi, I have 2 x PE return upgrade vouchers on my Virgin account which I can use for the 4 of us one way. My intention was to upgrade to PE on the way out and fly back economy.
I have phoned the flying club and they have said when making the booking for reward seats there must be reward availability in both EC and PE for me to use the voucher. On the date we wish to fly out there is only PE availability (which is what I want to book) but as there is no EC seats I can’t book. ?
I’m sure in the past there only had to be reward availability in the cabin which you are booking (i.e PE on the way out). Can anyone who has recently booked confirm if this is the case.

Ring back and speak to someone else. Our March flights (booked at the end of June) are reward upgrades, there was no availability in economy, only pe. I've done this many times.

Unfortunately not everyone at Virgin follow the same rules, it's very annoying. Just keep trying until you get someone who knows what they're doing.

You can read the rules either way, neither person is doing it right or wrong - it's very ambiguous.

In the past I've had

A) you need availability in both
B) so long as there is availability in PE your OK
C) you can use your voucher but only for one person
D) use it the way the OP mentioned

I’ve just booked and split my vouchers. There was no availability in economy but there was in PE. Just call back like others have said. Good luck!

Sorry to hijack but can you stack the vouchers? Can you use one to book a 241 in economy and then use another to upgrade to PE on the same booking? Assuming availability of course.
