Soft opening - pandora how does it work?

From what I've read there's the chance this will be happening while we're there.

How does it work? Do you just wander past in the hope the CM's ask you to have a go?

Usually there'll be a sandwich board type sign outside the ride (+ a couple of CM) inviting you to 'have a go'

DVC members and Annual Pass holders are getting previews 13-22 may and the park closes early (330pm) on 24th for the media event so I dunno if they will do soft opening unless they let people in at night after the AP are done.

I was thinking same thing with all these special hours going on I suspect they will be it until the grand opening but keep my fingers crossed for those going out there just before the 27th May

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope there may be some soft openings during our trip after missing the Mine Train ones by days in 2014, and spending too much time lurking in the area hoping to get on .

I read a Theme Park Tourist Facebook post the other day suggesting that because they're training CMs so early and expecting them to start working in the area next month, soft openings are likely. I guess it's pure speculation at the moment. They didn't do any softs for Frozen Ever After and the opening days weren't exactly problem free, were they?

Obviously the AP preview dates are quite a way off so I don't know if that makes soft openings soon more or less likely.

I missed the mine train by days last time we were there as well. Hoping for a chance to see this time, as we won't be back for at least 6 years unless there's a lottery win

To me, that sounds like there might be soft openings for everyone else on the 25th and 26th. And perhaps even on the 23rd and the first half of the 24th.
