My first thought was Chip (Disney theme but also sausage and chips!) but after reading through replies I think Slinky is the best.
We have a Woody, he’s 4 months old... |

Dachshunds are so cute! I was looking at miniature dachshund puppies online yesterday. We've had a cross collie and a working cocker in the 30+ years DH and I have been together. Lost our wonderful cocker just over a year ago. I've had a hankering for another dog and DH is coming round to the idea. He said he would go for an agility collie in a minute but I'd rather have a cockapoo (F1) or a miniature dachshund. DH said there's no way he's walking a miniature dachshund, although he did admit last night they looked cute, so you never know. He thinks they may have issues with their backs. To be honest I don't know enough about the breed.

They were originally bred in Germany for going down badger sets and rabbit burrows for hunting. As they sometimes got stuck or lost they developed quite a deep bark so that they could be located. This bark has stuck with them and they still like to use it, which they are known for.
They love to burrow in to blankets in their beds to sleep and can feel the cold very easily, so they like jumpers and jackets to walk in. They have a tendancy to be quite destructive and most will destroy any toys you give them. Ours are very loving and like nothing more than climbing on you to lick you to death. Because they are classed as a dwarf dog (the legs give it away) you have to be extra careful with allowing them to go up stairs, jump on and off furniture as it can be extremely damaging to their backs. We have ramps and small steps for them and live in a bungalow so no stairs. Their backs are delicate and if you do consider getting one as a puppy you need to ask the breeder about any history of back issues with both parents, are they PRA (eye issues) clear and IVVD checked (spine). |
