Last minute Cruise?

Has anybody booked a cruise only from port canaveral whilst staying in Orlando for the 3 night break on one of the Disney cruise ships, if so did you make a big saving doing it last minute?

Depends what you mean by last minute... normally you cannot book in the 3-4 weeks before sailing anyway as they have to gather all the passenger info and have all the paperwork for the cruise in place in advance of sailing.

Its rare there are any places left up to 2-3 month out, and if there are, these are normally offered to Florida residents, military, travel journalists and or T/As at special rates ... and not to the general public.

It used to be the case that the earlier you booked, the better the price, but the recession hit Disney hard last year (plus increasing competition) so unusually, various offers came throughout the year ...depending on how each type of cruise was filling up. (or not!).

Its very difficult to predict how things will turn out this year ...especially when there are more and more new ships to fill (including their own)... is the recession over ? who knows ? but the good thing is if you book through disney direct and the price goes down, you can get yours adjusted too...though bear in mind sometimes they have applied offers to new bookings only and is not always possible to rebook exactly what you had before... it will be an interesting year ahead price wise I'm sure.:pop:

In September last year, Steve and Tracy looked at booking while they were out there and the price was horrendous Much, much more than we had paid the year before when we booked with about 8 months to go.

Luckily, they're booking early for the Disney Dream next October with us!
