Hospital offers pictures of your insides

I won’t go into specifics, but I was visiting someone in hospital yesterday late afternoon who had an operation in the morning under a general. The consultant came around whilst I was there and spoke about how the operation went (usual stuff) and then asked the patient if they wanted to see the pictures whilst holding a folder. The patient asked “what pictures,” and the reply was of your insides, but the offer was declined.

It was quite amusing because we had never thought you would have the opportunity to see pictures of your insides😁.

I had an operation many many years ago, and they told me virtually nothing, but they definitely communicate more with patients nowadays which can only be a good thing.

As a side note full credit to the NHS staff they have been brill.

When my Son had his appendix out in Celebration Hospital the surgeon asked my Wife and I did we want to watch it on the big screen.

However he did supply numerous photos of the said appendix both in situ and in the path lab so we could give them to our Insurer.
I still have them and can post if you like.

I recently had my knee done (again), and I have a copy of the pictures from it.. to be fair, it's quite hard to tell what you're looking at unless you're told.

A friend had a hysterectomy a few years back, and got pictures. That kind of thing fascinates me, so I can now say I've seen parts of her that very few others have! She's in Washington state.

Also, from the numerous ops Chris has had, both us and his plastic surgeon have taken a ton of photos - though since that's an external injury not quite the same thing!

I can see NHS charging for this... parking, like Disney is already a big debate... magic band = ID bands lots of opportunity for special customisation, dining plans...could actually be better way of keeping patient info on...I remember when I had my knee op they had a disagreement which knee it was - totally ignoring whatever I had to say!

I have the pictures from up my nose/down my throat from when I had nodules. Reminds me of the chestburster scene in Alien.
