Mobile The strangest thing you’ve had stolen

Yesterday, I woke up to discover that someone has stolen a dog bed, which was in an open bin bag, from next to my bin. It was wedged in and heavy so couldn’t have blown away (not that we’ve had any wind). I say stolen loosely because it was rubbish, but, it actually gets weirder.

It was binned because my elderly dog had an upset stomach and while I was showering, had explosive diarrhoea... all over her bed! I was going to an appointment so didn’t have much time to sort the mess and we’d bought her a new bed for Christmas anyway so bagged up the old one and put it next to the bin. I couldn’t close the bag properly as the bed was too big and didn’t have another bag so you could see it was a dog bed sticking out the top.

Someone has stolen a dog bed covered in poo.

I’ve checked the bins on the street in case it did blow away and someone’s accidentally ended up with it (so I could apologise) but no luck. We walk the estate twice a day and it’s not been dumped anywhere I can see. I just can’t help wondering how far they got before they realised they’d made a big, smelly mistake?

So, I was wondering, what’s the weirdest thing you’ve had stolen and did you ever get it back?

P.S. I definitely do not want the bed back

Our car has been broken into 3 times. First time, local known petty criminal, stole a tent and an air pump. Left cash in the centre console and other valuables (which obviously shouldn't have been in the car). Assumed he wasn't in a sober state.

Second time, hubby didn't lock door right when going in to pay for fuel. By the time he got back our log book had gone as well as a few air fresheners he got for 5p each in a sale. Assume log books have a use when creating dodgy plates etc but police couldn't have been less interested. Was done in blind spot of forecourt for CCTV apparently. Very odd.

Same week my husband had obviously catalogued the car after the last time and knew what clutter he had in there. Few days after he noticed more random worthless tat/clutter was gone but no sign of door being forced or window broken. He replaced the battery in the key fob after that! Could only happen to him...

My Dad in the early 1970's had a Ford Cortina. It wasn't old, maybe 2 years max.

Anyhow one day he got in it and somebody had knicked the carpets front and back!

I had a shell suit top stolen from school in the early 90’s looking back they did me a favour but I was upset at the time. It was even stranger as the bottom half had been stolen off the washing line a few weeks before.

My daughter had a Disney travel mug that she used for work. She used to leave it in the staff room. Went to collect it one evening and the mug was still there but the lid was missing. Never saw the lid again.

Our shed was broken into, they only took the lawn seed and lawn weed and feed! 😳

2 lawn mowers 2 strimmers all garden tools, garden lights, gazebo all sat there untouched!

I wonder if they were put off taking them as they had to get them over a 6 foot fence with them! Either way we had to buy a new blooming padlock for the shed!

I had a pair of flip flops go missing from a sun lounger at a hotel in Florida while I went for a dip in the pool to cool off. They were only a cheapo pair, I was gobsmacked.

My son took his school shirt of to do pe and went to put it on and it was gone, dh dumped a 30 year old toilet out the front when we moved in (he was taking it to the dump) It was taken and wasn’t even clean! We did get my fil bike stolen from out the front, he is a bit outspoken and called my son stupid when he was young. My second son was a bit cheeky shall we say, he piped up and said no you’re the stupid one, you left your bike out the front and it got stolen!

My trainers when | fell asleep on the underground on the way to work the next morning after a heavy Friday night. Those escalators can be tricky in just your socks!

A chimney pot from the garden. Last year I saw a youth leaning over our garden wall and very surreptitiously taking a photo on his phone of our cast iron water pump and stone sink. We then took them down and stored them in our garage. A numberof garden items went missing locally a few weeks later.
