In our house you would be most welcome to.

If they can support themselves financially and live elsewhere I would / do encourage it.

And its 1/3 of net pay.

I'm surprised at this, with you as a role mole MH I would have expected more from him... does he not understand that now it is his job to fund the costa trips?

I wish to clarify that I'm not a mole

I don't go to costa anymore because I prefer my home made filter costa coffees at a fraction of the price.

When mine get to an ages where rent should be paid then I will work out a set charge for everything and this price would be for them I would charge percentage as I feel that’s not fair between the two kids. Who I assume will still be at home.

What I will do with the money though is use it as a saving pot for them for a mortgage deposit.

I think it teaches them budgeting.

I also think mortgages/budgeting etc should be taught in school but that’s another story

In 1978 I got my first job, first monthly pay packet was £96,I remember it well, I gave my mum £30 board and my dad £10 for petrol as I often borrowed his car when I went out with my mate.

I was just thinking the same.
Our daughter is about to graduate Uni but also works. She pays a decent amount to us, and also buys must of her own food by choice.
She earns a very good wage for a 20 year old - plenty enough that she is moving in to her own place in about 6 months. She can afford the £800 per month rent by herself easily - we’re happy for her and think it’s a good move that she becomes independent.
