Well I've just googled it and to encrypt messages on FB messenger I have just found it. You go into the thread, you click on the persons name and it takes you to settings for that conversation then you click GO SECRET CONVERSATION - it's not standard.

Ooh, you have every right to be suspicious! Personally I cant see any reason why 2 married people would suddenly message each other!
I understand makes and females can be friends but a sudden friendship is odd to me!
I wouldn't have the first clue how to encrypt a message. Are any of his other messages encrypted? If not then I would assume this is something that had been done deliberately for this chat!
As for why you are going through his messages, I would have done exactly the same, especially if that particular emoji had popped up!
I would be quite happy if dh went through my messages as I have nothing to hide!
Hope you get sorted soon! If he has only been messaging for 2 weeks and that is genuinely all it it, I would sit down and talk about it and try and move on if you can. I would want to know why though!

There was a jokey message going around on FB last week with an 🍆but I didn't know what it was supposed to mean,till I just googled it.

So Ive just looked at it again - you specifically click the go secret bit and then chat on that bit. I couldn't understand why it was locked but it isn't you have to have the chat on the secret conversation tab.

I think the fact that it was an aubergine emoji would also bother me! I believe it has a very particular meaning!

I don't use any of those apps so I don't have a clue how it works but I'm trying to establish if the 🍆 is in place of the persons name or if it is the actual message that was sent .

I’m so sorry to hear you didn’t get a good reason or even an apology this morning. I don’t think you need to be able to read the messages, I think the fact that he went to so much trouble to encrypt them in the first place tells you as much as the messages would 😔 I have no advice for you but lots of hugs and support

On a lighter note, my DD has to explain what an aubergine emoji signifies 😂 Needless to say, I have no idea about encrypted messages either 😂

Op, sorry to be blunt but you are aware of the connotations of the 🍆 emoji aren’t you? That, coupled with going to the effort of arranging disappearing messages doesn’t put this in a good light for your husband.
I hope he can be honest with you and you can get to the bottom of it. Then you can decide how you wish to handle it
