Be prepared to spend a lot of money. I was there on Thursday and Friday (go a lot on business) and a pretty nice but nothing fancy Thai meal for 11 cost me 700 euro. Makes London look cheap.
I do love the City but I tend to just walk around, go in bars etc when over there. There is a zoo. I'm sure there are museum's etc but I never get time to go looking, I'd rather be in O'Donaghues.

I’d include a visit to Trinity and the Book of Kells and the GPO. Friends of ours visited on a Disney Crusise and took this tour which is totally doable on your own.

I would do a city bus tour. Walk around Grafton street down towards Stephens green. Have a coffee in Bewley and a bun. I would go to the Porterhouse for tapas for dinner. Enjoy.

I went last year and before that ten years ago.
enjoyed the Hop on hop off bus, and Kilmainham Gaol was interesting.

I would definitely do the VIKING SPLASH TOUR. It leaves regularly from St Stephens Green, which is a small park/green area right in the centre of Dublin, near the St Stephens Green Shopping Centre and a few hundred yards from Grafton St.-again more shops.
Bewleys cafe (see Tinktatoo's comment) is just down the road and so is the Porterhouse (near the bottom of grafton st on nassau st).

We've been twice and had great guides who were just hilarious. The tour itself isn't much BUT its what happens on route.Be prepared to make a fool of yourself for a bit of fun!

Stephens Green is also beside the LUAS train, which will take you across parts of the city. I think it connects to Kilmainham.Just check that out.

Captain AMericas is at the top of grafton st (upstairs) across from the disney store, its always busy, is quite loud and does good burgers but can be a bit pricy.we usually go before 3pm and get the lunch special. their cocktails are good too.

luas will also take you to dundrum shopping centre. it is massive and a good choice of cafes and restaurants on site there.

hop on and hop off also a good idea to get your bearings.

have fun!

You were ripped off with your Thai meal for 700. That definitely isn’t the norm, even for some of the fancier places

Hard to answer this as a local but if you’ve any specific questions, fire away

Luas doesn’t reach Kilmainham Gaol (nearest stop is about 15-20 minutes walk)

It was Saba.

In fairness every time we go out in Dublin it's very expensive. Everything is expensive. I go a lot.
You may be able to find cheap places, but I don't seem to manage it, albeit I'm not particularly looking.
Love Dublin though, great city.

Would do a Dublin bus tour of the hop on hop off variety as this is very good value, a walk along the River Liffey, pop into a pub or two for drinks or eats, a look at the Book of Kells at Trinity College is also worth a visit too. Kilmainham Jail is worth a visit too but you might not fit that in as well. Dublin is a walkable city but the bus tour gives you the overall view and an idea where to go. Have a good time
