Hotels near eurotunnel

Hi we’re planning a trip where we will drive to Southern France and then spend 5 nights at DLP on the way home.
We are driving from Yorkshire and want to spend a night somewhere before the long drive to the South of France
Can’t decide whether to book somewhere on the UK side or the Calais side.
Any advice - also any suggestions/recommendations for hotels...

If on the UK side, the premier inn is about a 5 min drive to the eurotunnel entrance. Has a Burger King and a pub place on same site.
Think it’s Folkestone Premier Inn.
Not sure that’s what you’re looking for but we’ve stayed there twice before a trip to Disneyland Paris and it’s great.

Thanks for that.
Can’t decide whether to get the crossing over on the same day as we drive down. It may help us to get on the road quicker for the longer trip in France.
We are a family of 8. Mum, dad, grandma, grandad & 4 children so will need at least 2 rooms.
We wer3 just wondering if there are any PI type places on the other side

There is a b&b hotel in Calais. we have stayed there before and its right by the tunnel. The chain of hotels is called b&b, we have stayed in quite a few of them in France including the one near Disney.

We have also stayed in the premier in near the tunnel UK side.

Personally I would go over to France and stay there.

Our first holiday, we stayed in a B&B hotel in France (the Bussy one isn’t too far away from DLP, and is similar in price to a Premier Inn.) That was great, although it was a long drive down - 6 hours through the U.K., an hour for Le Shuttle, then another 3 hours in France. That’s including stops, so we’d set off from home around 10am, and finally checked in around 9pm French time. We were in the parks by 10am the next day, having checked in at the Cheyenne around 9am.

Next holiday, we were setting off straight from school, so stayed in the Premier Inn at Folkestone. We got there around 9pm, got the 8am train next morning, and arrived in the parks around 2pm French time (after stopping for lunch and checking in to the DLH.)

This time, we’re going back to staying in a B&B in Bussy. It does mean a long journey the day before, but it’s broken up a bit with the train bit, and it just means we can get to the parks so much sooner for our first day.

I would definitely stop over in France rather than the U.K., even if you go for the B&B at Calais, to cut down on the travelling time on your first park day.

Agree about B&B hotel have stayed in them all over France . The one we use when crossing on Eurotunnel to Disney is at Coquelles, next to an Auchan Supermarket and near Buffalo Grill for dinner, then 3 ish hour drive next day. If staying this side of channel we use Premier Inn at Eureka Parc , Ashford. This year on the way home we are staying at Novotel suite hotel opposite Cite Europe as got a good deal.

We tend to stay at the Holiday Inn Express at Folkestone (free breakfast!) and get an early crossing but have also crossed and stayed at the ibis (bit nicer than B&B in my opinion). Also stayed at a Novotel I think.
