Convector or Halogen heaters?
Whilst I wait for my central heating to get sorted, which is likely to take a couple of weeks, I'm going to buy a couple of heaters to stop my house from feeling like an igloo.
Does anyone have any experience on whether Halogen or Convector heaters are better for heating mid-sized rooms?

Halogen heaters are quick but I find they don't heat a room - the minute you switch them off it goes cold.
You might be better with some oil filled ones. They are often sold cheap on your local FB page |

We have no heating at the moment and have borrowed several heaters off friends. Halogen is useless, barely warms at all, oil ok, but the convector one heats the whole room quickly, so we all fight over that one!

I bought a oil heater from Tesco for £25. I forgot it was still in the car, dh just went and got it and is putting the wheels on. I need to then wait an hour before using. I will.let you know what its like as I've never used one before. We got a oil one to use in our office as people told us it's the cheapest and best to use. Fingers crossed.

Our central heating is not working and we went and bought an oil filled heater for our living room, which has done the job
Make sure the size you get is appropriate for the room you want to heat.

I don't have central heating. I like halogen heaters but they don't last very long, the bulbs go quickly. I have a fan heater now and love it.

My office is cold as hell, I find you can’t beat the old supersur heaters, it heats the office up very quickly.

We used an oil heater when our boiler played up a few weeks ago before we got our new boiler fitted. It's a large one with timer and 3 heat settings, plus heat from frost control to maximum. We left it in the kitchen overnight the first night, on low and dial set to max, the whole house was toasty and warm, we live in a 3 bed bungalow.

I put the oil heater in ds room and shut the door (ds room is 5ft by 4ft) 3 hours later the room is ok but not hot. Anneeb do you mind me asking what one you bought?
Hope that helps a bit op and sorry to hijack your post 😊 |
