Mine got his exams results yesterday and as Nandos were doing free chicken for anyone who could show their results, he and a friend headed out, they ended up getting the 2.20pm train into town as it took all morning to organise.

My DS 14 has hardly been over the door since we got back from Florida on 22nd July. He met is mates the evening we got home & hasn’t seen them since & he has been out for a coffee with a girl once. I’m seriously get worried but the lack of socialising but maybe that’s because I was never in at that age. I do hear him talking though so must be communicating from his room! I have managed to get him to start back to the gym this week.

So glad I am not alone in thinking that DS (13) never comes out of his room unless it is to shower, eat or use the toilet lol!

Think I might lock mine in her room she is costing me a fortune! In the last 5 days she has been to Manchester twice with friends for, food, shopping escape room etc, she has been swimming and to the fair, trampolining and the cinema all these also involve eating out nando's, dessert places, McDonald's and other unhealthy places. Actually though I am glad she is 15 now but a couple of summers ago she barely ventured out of her room and it did worry me.

Ha ha yes this sounds like mine too ! We are only in week 2 of our holiday. Everything she does costs me money. Today it’s having the nails and eyebrows done. She has been to the cinema twice, trampolining, Pizza Hut, Nandos. McDonald’s. She does clean the house for a fiver a time so my house keeps clean but I can’t pay out for the whole holiday lol. She also runs every day so at least that’s free !

My 13 year old son wouldn’t voluntarily leave the house but when he has to go and do something we have arranged he enjoys it. We were camping in Newquay first 2 weeks of holidays and he loved that, this weekend we are going to Brighton and London to visit family he’s not to keen on going but I know he will enjoy it once we are there. Then the last 2 weeks he is at Army Cadet camp so in total I think he only has 10 days at home the whole of the summer holidays and he will probably not arrange to see any friends he will just want to play on his ps4.

I’m relieved to read this - my 12 and 15 year olds seem to be spending all of their time in their rooms.
My youngest has been out with friends a few times into town and has played football outside, but they invariably work their way back to his bedroom to play computer games. My eldest has seen his girlfriend twice, but they have stayed in and he only seems interested in meeting up with one mate, but sadly that mate seems to be on holiday when we aren’t and vice versa. I admit I was looking forward to the holidays for a lazy break, and so I’ve made very few plans - also my eldest only came back last week from three weeks in Africa and we are away to Disneyland Paris and a Norwegian Fjords Disney cruise in two weeks, so I figure I don’t need to always be spending money entertaining them - they don’t seem bothered - but of course I’m now stressed that they aren’t out enjoying themselves and are staying in their rooms too much! - at least this thread has shown me that I’m not alone! 🙂 |

My dd 16 has been out of her room loads, she spends a lot of time in my room! She was watching love island, now we go shopping, hairdressers, meals out, days up London, afternoon tea, Silverstone , it’s costing me loads. Saturday we are having a meal out for our anniversary and her birthday. Monday’s her actual 17th birthday and she’s going ice skating with her friends. A few years back she stayed in her room but now she just wants to be out, wish she’d go back to her room I can’t afford her!

My almost 15 year old son just popped downstairs for a drink whilst I was reading this thread. He says it’s harsh but he rarely left his room in the almost 3 weeks he was off before we went on holiday and has rarely ventured out since we got back on Sunday. He did go swimming in the reservoir with his dad and brother last night and visit his gran on Sunday. Other than that he’s been asleep or attached to his Xbox since we got home. He is chatting or playing online with his school mates though and as he leaves his door open we can hear the laughter from them chatting and carrying on. At least I know his pals are all doing the same, I’d be more concerned if he was only playing online alone or with strangers. He is also now back upstairs in his room!
